Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Thanks, guys. I haven't done too much since I've been putting a lot of time and energy into my funny car project. But, I did finish the frame and plugged all of the holes in the firewall (PO drilled a 100 holes for various things) - I still need to replace some floor sections in the cab since the PO installed several diiferent seats while he had it. I started to do final mock ups of the cab and bed.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Thanks...I did make and weld in some patch panels for the cab this past weekend, but spending most of my time tearing down and examining the funny car engine after a short 9K RPM pass just to see if it liked it - so far nothing wrong. Replacing the main and rod bearings with Calico coated bearings. Just re-stripped the impellars on the supercharger and getting ready for runs in the new year.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
So Vin, how goes it on the 63 build?
Since you chose to improve your truck by putting a mighty Pontiac mill in her... I sure have been curious of your progress... I have 2 63's that I tinker on every time I get a chance. Both get a Pontiac.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Just got back from the pre-March Meet open testing at Bakersfield. At the end of last year, I stepped up to a 44 amp ProMag and I'm now running 70% nitro, but this necessitated a lot of other parts.
Since I've been putting all of my energy into running a funny car, there isn't much time leftover for my shop truck project. I did finish the body work on the cab, installed some sound/thermal barrier, mounted the AC evaporator, and sprayed some 3M sealant/sound deadener under the cab and the bottom portion of the firewall. I hope to mount all of the sheetmetal and drop it off for paint this summer...

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Phew…with the racing season done, I was able to make some progress on getting the Poncho C10 project off to paint. I realigned the fenders, radiator support, hung the doors, mounted the bed and tailgate, aired up the suspension and put it in the box and dropped it off a my friend's shop.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
I lowered the lip 2.5 inches on the front fenders. I always thought the front fender opening was a bit too tall - not much fender over the wheel opening. So, I sectioned the fender and lowered the lip. Here's kind of a before and after:

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Thanks! Me neither. In the meantime, in case I forgot to post it, I did finish my deluxe steering wheel modification. It was an unintended diameter reduction, as I was planning on restoring the old original deluxe wheel, but it was too much of a basket case as I got into it. So, I cut out the hub and welded it to a '61 Pontiac steering wheel I had reduced a long time ago for a Ventura project that never materialized.
...size difference after welding the hub to the outer ring... ...lots of epoxy - previous sectioned area on the bottom wheel that I epoxied 10 years ago started to crack: ...about 45 hours of sanding and shaping with another application of epoxy in between: ...painted then assembled:
