Your truck is looking very nice.

Have you tried paint stripper on the old bedliner? Quite likely blasting won't remove it very easily, and if it does, it may ruin the look of the wood underneath.

capt is right on. do not blast the wood as it will pull the early wood out and make it wavy looking. strip it with methylene chloride type stripper and then wash it with lacquer thinner. light sanding and reapply finish

I really appreciate the input fellas, I really want the wood to look it's age. I don't want it to look shiny & new.

you can always pee a little in the can of finish, that will change the characteristics of it a little
what is under that bed liner. for a finish on the wood. try just scraping it with something. the odds may be that it didn't adhere very well to the old finish and we can see what it is

The next step is a new engine. I want to stay with the inline 6 cause I just think there cool, so I hired Tom Lowe from Autowerkz & inliners.org to build me a monster. I should be taking delivery of freshly built 250 bored 30 over with a clifford 270 cam & lump heads that have had the works thrown at em including roller rockers towards the end of July Then the thrash begins. Front clip will come off & engine compartment will be sanitized & repainted & rewired. I'll paint the frame rails, A arms 7 anything that needs replacing or repainting will be done. I had planned on running this weber 38 carb but have a F.A.S.T. fuel injection setup that will work killer so I think that's the new plan. heres the headers & the Clifford intake I've picked up. Also the block & much of the accessories will be painted the same electric baby blue as the wheels & stripe. Picked this up on Ebay this week! So stoked. Got it pretty reasonable compared to what I've seen them going for lately. Also it's been an incredibly long wait but my new Tom Lowe built 250 I6 motor should be here at the end of the week. Then Paint the block assemble all of the new shiny parts including my F.A.S.T. fuel injection take all that to the Dyno man. Should make around 300hp/300TQ the way it's been built. Then install. getting overly excited, might blow a gasket so Ill wait & post more later.

Thanks man, I can't take credit for spraying the paint. My friends at Greening motor company here in Nashville are taking care of all paint. I'm no painter, I'm just picking colors & rooting him on.

I am a huge fan of the IL6 too, although my interest lies more in the Pontiac 230 OHC.
It is pretty cool that you are going to push 350 hp out of yours!!
When you are getting that kind of output, then the engine weight to power ratio really adds up to some awesome performance.

When I explain this to other people they are like "ahhh so you can get off the line faster !!"
To which I reply, "Well yes, but you can stop sooner too...."
Sometimes stopping is more important !!

Looks like a cool build, and I really dig on the detail work you did on your motor, very nicely done !

Yeah I love the I 6's. I've had lot's of V8's & really wanted something different. I wont be turbo charging for awhile. I'm kinda excited about the fuel injection for the reliability & smoothness. Without turbo it should still make between 280-300 HP.

Here's a few more pics. I'm taking a bunch to make a coffee table book for me & my grandpa. I don't think he ever imagined the truck would be a hot rod as it was always a tool to him, but I think he"ll really appreciate it. Not sure I like the white distributor cap or not. Might wind up being blue too.
