Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
That was a drag boat that I was crewing on. I don't know all the particulars but he are a few things. 500 cu in, nitro burning monster...lol. We ran 4.90's @ 233 mph in the quarter.

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
a local guy is selling a fully built 327, around 600hp. He built it for a customer of his and the guy lost interest. So now the motor is for sale. pan to airfilter. everything for a really good price. I know I know 600hp is WAAAYYYYY too much for the street. But would sure be fun.

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
What is a really good price? I would also like to see the list of parts. I'm guessing it has a blower on it. I would sure like to see the dyno sheet on that one. LOL It wouldn't be fun to drive on the street. It would only run at WOT

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
600 hp from a 327.. either lots and lots of money and spinning it to the moon, or lots and lots of money with boost.
right now im about 350-370 wheel and about 440 crank. upwards of 440-450 wheel tq though. first gear stands no chance with radials. and no you dont need fat meats to hook up.. and a 4 link properly setup will hook just fine with a 275/60/15 drag radial.. which is proven that runs in the 7's now. no im not saying these old heavy trucks can run that fast with the small tire, but they work.. and will work for what im going after will be putting in a mild built 350 with forged pistons and for now, a holset turbo off a cummins bus in the truck. should support 500 wheel, then ill be upgrading to masterpowers 76 series turbo hoping for 600 wheel on 93 pump! classic dreamer, im also wondering what makes ya think that a twin turbo setup isnt practical? minus the price? extremely efficient, able to run better mpg out of boost than a NA motor set up correctly. and you dont need a big cam to make power.

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
here is a pic of the motor.
We have a local guy here in ny that builds nascar engines. The engine has over 10k invested from what I was told. (not what I would pay). I will try to get the dyno sheets and full spec list for you guys. Ned as for TT, I think its very practical for driving, just not for me. I am a boost addict and love to crank the power all the way. used to have a turbo car, had to setting with a boost controller, high (14psi) and low (8psi). NEVER had it on low and high was always adjusted. Got to the point of driving it on the street with 19/20psi. Granted it was a vw, but 480 whp at 21psi. Always wanted more and more. The T3 turbos that most run on chevy TT would probably get swapped for t4 60-1s and then to dual T66. I have mental issues with boost. |

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
stock 350 hp / 327 with m21 & 12bolt / 3:73's. It can be a handfull on wet streets here in Seattle. First gear can be tricky, but 2nd scares the hell out of the local ricers.

Will a 275 drag radial fit without cutting anything up? I have a little small block in myne and am getting ready to order wheels/tires. I was planning on a 15x10 with 4.5in backspacing and a M/T 275/60/15 drag radial. It looks like I might have to cut some of the bed out to make it fit, but it destroys the stock 225/60's on it now... BTW 500+hp (est) 388 stroker here... |

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
hey, boost is addicting. no doubt about that!
i would love to do a twin 62-1 setup, but given all the extra weight that would be on the front of the already heavy 2150 lbs of my pickup, i wouldnt hook up period.. im going to be doing a midmount turbo setup with as much stuff moved behind the rear axle that i can get back there. should be fun!

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
Horse power, I don't think you can count the engine in either of my trucks as having any horsepower. But enough to cruise at serious highway speeds for hours on end without issues is plenty. |

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
neb, your going to run a system like STS turbosystems? Very cool. Always interested on how those work. What are you doing for cooling? FMIC? Air to Water?

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
well, the same basic principal as an sts.. try and hide as much as i can...
im going to TRY and mount the turbo where the battery box is now. *original location* and have full exhaust.. as far as intercooler goes, i dont need one unless im really pushing it. carborated systems play their own "cooling" role in the atomization of the fuel. so from what ive seen, i should be good without a cooler for up to 12-14 lbs. if i want to go higher, then ill just install a meth setup to help out there. but i shouldnt have to. 500 wheel should definetally be doable with 93 pump and that snail. ignition, im going with a plane jane HEI with the simple upgrades and curve ket and MSD's new 6AL2. pretty cool, and very simple!

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
I have a '68 307 that's rated at 200 hp and with a couple of bolt ons I'm hoping to get 300 hp; naturally aspirated of course.

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
290hp Goodwrench motor, runs 70 on freeway all day long. On good old regular pump gas, daily driver type rig. 68 Camaro 10 bolt, 273 gears, 70 A body subframe, turbo 350, it just doesn't get any more dependable.

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
Should have added this question too.
What suspension? What rear end? What chassis? How does it hold up? |

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
Our 1957 has the original 235 and has probably never even been rebuilt. Runs OK still.... I would guess it 100HP on a good day.

Re: how much horsepower does your truck have
I was planning on buying a GM crate motor but I got a really good deal on a freshly rebuilt 350. It was dyno'd at 400 HP and 450 FP tourque at the flywheel with a standard 4 barrel and edlebrock carb, I've probably reduced that with my 3x2 high rise but it should still get out of it's own way
