Putting body on rotisserie questions!!!

Check tis out, I built a mout frame for the front of the tub today, I am real pleased with the way it turned out. Will work on the rear mount tomorrow!

I have been taking my swwet time to get this done but getting closer! Here are some pics of the back body hanger that will connect the body to the rotiserrie. It is fabricated out of 2 pieces angle iron sandwiching together the top and bottom of the end of the body at the bed right at and using the two existing back most body mount screw holes. I have tried to show this in the pics as best I can. Then I attached hangers to another angle iron and they will attach to the rotiserrie head. I think that this place will be strong enough but need some of you all who do lots of body work on this type of tub to see what you think. Thanks!

looks good, better than $1500 if you ask me. The shop that me and my bodies are renting has a rotisserie. One of the guys had it made by a family member. I just sandlbasted my frame on it today. One nice thing about yours is that you can build a deck with it when you're done!

Got any more pics of your frame and progress pics of it? What did you paint it with? THanks..

No I don't and the front one scares me as well.
We will start with the front one, you are bolting into a flange that is designed to hold your inner fender. It should be going thru a body mount, they are 3-4 layers of metal that will disperse the load over a much larger area. The spot you picked is thin, one layer and has a concintrated load area.

Now the problem I see with the rear is it is set up fine if the vehical is up side down the entire time. With it up side down the bolt holds it in place and the tube that extends out will rest against the body and help disperse the load over the rear sill area. But with how you have it set now when you go to pick it up that same tube that extends out will act like a can opener and the leverage action will try and rip right thru the floor.

Take this with a grain of salt, I have never used a rottisery and my opinion is just from a quick look at your set up. But I would hate to see any damage happen to a blazer tub or even worse to you or any one under or around it if failure did occure.

Now with that being said please pick my thoughts apart and prove me wronge. By doing so we will all learn somthing.

The bill sort of scared me. I was expecting around $300.00 and when I got there it was about $600.00. I just chalked it up to my being stupid! And the estimate for media blasting the tub and doors and such is $1200.00 so I wonder how bad that bill will be!

Thanks, Here is a pic of my rotisserie. Wish it had larger wheels likes yours or the one that Kevin is looking at. I had to roll it outside and it turns to gravel once you leave the shop....uggh!

I guess my $75 blaster and $50 in Media (Black beauty Coal slag) isn't to bad with that price tag. I still need to do my axles and springs though.

I purchased an Autotwirler over a year ago... I have only used it a few times, but still feel it was some of the best $1400 I ever spent. Like Kevin mentioned, it is important to use the body mount location for your pick-up points. Let me look at the blazer we have at the shop and I will see if I can give any insight... I will be putting it on the rotissorie in the future.

The choise of how to hang the front came from "bagged74" when he displayed a pic of his 2wd blazer on a rotiserrie. He said he had no problem at that spot. The rear spot I will look at again but that is why I put the angle iron underneath as well. Will look again, now I'm scared!

We also have a Autotwirler, very good money spent. We have had four or five different cars on it without any problems. The trick is to get it perfectly level so it doesn't get in a bind when you spin it.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I have been away at work. I attached my tub to the rotisserie almost exactly the smae way. I had absolutely zero issues. I also used considerably less bracing that what he is using, so I say you are good to go. The tub really is suprisingly light. And yes I have put the doors back on and they line up perfectly.

I saw an autowirler at Carlisle last week, very nice piece of equipment for $999 and it's made in Indiana. They had a car body so balanced that you could spin it with one hand and there was tension to stop it when he stopped moving it.....
