Re: 66 C10 4x4 Conversion

The Dodge box is not the same as the GM in that application, if I remember correctly it works opposite of the GM when the input is turned.

Let me know if you want me to take any additional pictures of the steering box or components.

so if you are going to turn right on the wheel you are actually turning to the left; sounds like a safe driving practice!

If you used a standard rotation box in that configuration that is what you would get.
THIS IS THE ONE NEEDED FOR THAT CONVERSION:

Re: 66 C10 4x4 Conversion

The Dodge one for that application is reverse rotation.
Latter model Dodges 2x4 and 4x4 used the same box and it is the same rotation as the chevy truck box.
Check out the add I posted the link to It says reverse rotation '72-'77 4x4 box.

Re: 66 C10 4x4 Conversion

If you take a standard rotation box and turn it on it's side and use it like the conversion on the truck in this thread, when you turned left you would go right.
Therefore, in this situation you need to use a reverse rotation box.
I don't know how else to explain it.
You almost have to have one in your hands to see what happens when they're on their sides to see it work.
On a standard rotation box if you turn it on it's side the pitman arm is now straight up if you could some how connect the drag link it would work right.
But when you move the pitman arm to the bottom you now need a reverse rotation box to move the arm in the same direction as the other box.
Does any of that make sense?

You have a reverse rotation saginaw power steering box from a 1972-1977 Dodge 4x4 complete with mounting bracket and a steering colunm from a later model GM truck.
