Next time I come across a H110 I'll take pics...there easy to tell the difference..they have 10 bolt hubs..not 8.

The cover is domed but has a section to take in account the larger gear set. They are in the 1 ton style chassis..2 are around here.
Your talking 6.13 or is it 6.17 gear ratio though in those units.

Those trucks use a different braking system also.

The ho52 -ho72 could have detroit locker in them...all my own 3/4 up use that style diff and all have detroit lockers in them.. I have a dana 60 rear too as a spare with its posi too if need be.

My truck came with 3.73's in it, at least when I got it, and I swapped the gears out of another coil sprung truck (1970 model i think) to get the 4.10 gears in my current truck. im gonna have to look at the axle when i get home, its currently sittin in the garage waiting for an exhaust and wiring an hour away from me. wish i had a garage up here to work in.

Re: What axle do I have?

how hard would it be to convert an ho52 to roller bearings. i plan to flush the rear axle on my 72 burb and run royal purple, but if there are any easy ways to upgrade while i have it apart to change the 4.57 to a 4.10 (or perhaps the rare aftermarket 3.90) i'd be all for it.

Re: What axle do I have?

a gear swap on an HO rear is very simple. Just remove the 3rd member drop out (like a for 9 inch) and replace with one from another HO rear. Any 3/4 ton with a small block and an automatic should have the 4.10, I've personally never had much problem finding them.

wow... this thread is over 4 years old.

Re: What axle do I have?

Bringing this back up...

My buddy just got a '65 C20 with an HO in it. He wants highway gears, what is the best option? I think I understand these trucks came with this link/coil suspension with Dana 60s at some point, so I think that would be a good
option if we could find one. What's the tallest gear ratio available for a 60?

Or a 14bolt? Our other thought was to put the suspension bracketry from the H0 on a 14 bolt. Can the guts (R&P) from a 14 bolt be used in an HO? I have about 3 around, maybe we could put one good one together. Then there's still lack of parts availability in the future...

Thanks

Re: What axle do I have?

no the gears can not be swaped from a 14 to the ho. you can swap the side gears and axle shafts though.

i dont know about the fastest gear for the ho but you can get a 3.23 for a 14bff and a 3.08 if you get a d61/d71[dodge diesel axles]

Re: What axle do I have?

Anyone have any idea what the largest tire that can be stuffed under the rear is? 3.54s with 33s would work.

Re: What axle do I have?

I think we're gonna put a 12 bolt I have with 2.76s in it with the coil/arm style susp brackets welded on it and get some 6 to 8 wheel adapters.
