Re: My 82 shortbed
Dang on the hit and run, what a bummer.
Nice job on the other truck, a lot of tedious work in the engine bay cleaning that up but it's looking good.

Re: My 82 shortbed
Dads friend finally stopped by but after closer examining of the cracks he told me he didn't think it was best welding it, wasn't sure it would last. major spider cracking around were the power steering bolts up. and three major cracks by the motor mounts not to mention the left frame horn had been replaced from one off another truck... And another close friend suggested swapping the frames of the two trucks..( which i have always wanted to do a frame off build on it just never thought it would actually happen..) after long hard thinking and permission to use the back yard, well kind of permission lol my dad still wasn't happy about the whole idea. ......................................... AND SOO IT ALL BEGAN.!!

Re: My 82 shortbed
The first thing to be done was to strip the wrecked truck. Cab was beat up bad and truck was totaled... Hooked a chain to the front fender and yanked it away from the tire with another truck. cranked it up and pulled it around back. here's day one.

Re: My 82 shortbed
Id have to say. 30 year old bolts suck.. lol core support bolts were a pain to get out wouldn't even budge. Luckly borrowed a breaker bar from the neighbor and rang right off instead of loosing up. woops

Re: My 82 shortbed
After day one it was just little by little. Started taking off the messed up driver side door. and here's a pic of all the parts piled up in the bed.

Re: My 82 shortbed
man the hit and run was bad enough but the guard rail was a real pain it looks like. you have a sharp 86 and doing a great job with the engine bay. sucks you have to do a frame swap but it gives you a chance to do it the way you want it done.

Re: My 82 shortbed
Yea the guard rail is what really messed it up but it was unavoidable and yep but gave me the excuse to do the frame off build that ive only dreamed of always doing.

Re: My 82 shortbed
Doing a frame off will be worth it in the long run. Doing a frame off on my K30 myself.

Yea i know lol im glad im doing it now. this truck is turning out sweet and ill get to drive around something i built myself unlike the kids that there parents bought them their cars. Im 18 and both trucks were bought by me and the frame off is 100% payed for by me.

Re: My 82 shortbed
I always am proud when I drive around in my trucks, they may not be the best but they were funded and built by me!

Re: My 82 shortbed
Yanked the hood off and stood it up in the corner and the shattered windshield.. then crawled under the truck and began unbolting the cab.
