I am wanting opinions about buying a Motor - Page 2 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hope it turns out well. When you describe the flakes as small are they larger than 1/32" or more like metallic paint? If the short block checks out maybe swapping a set Vortex heads would be a good option to get the power you want and stay under budget.

If the gauge is off the chances are it's the sending unit and not the gauge. In 83 you would have an electrical oil pressure gauge.
