Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

ECE relocation brackets in the mail.. I didn't send the shocks, that one is leaking pretty bad. I figured you had some that would work, (in the pic) especially with the relocators.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

You must be off of that 4 mile stretch of I-24 that runs thru AL. I used to travel that neck of the woods when I drove over the road. I love that area

It's cool...I already have the CPP rear deluxe adj panhard bar (it's got an offset bend in it to clear the huge aluminum diff cover I have, and it's still mighty close). The shock brackets are already halfway on. Gotta love the ole Plasma cutter for removing those rivet heads...took longer to get it out of the building and set up then it did to get the 4 rivets out...

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

The rearend I'm currently using is 1/4" wider (wheel mounting point to WMP) than the rearend I took out of the truck, but I think that is due to the disc brake rotor hats. The rearend I took out of the '70 model is actually the wider of the 2 rearends that came in the '67-72's. I have another '70 model rearend that's about 2" narrower than the one I took out...I thought they changed them in '71 when they made them 5-lug...Hmmm, who knew

Mustang sounds like it is wicked fast!!! Mines still a work in progress, actually...but it should be pretty quick and handle and stop like a motha...I hope

Ed -

You are coming right along with your GMC. Nice work, and what a change in such a short time! Have you thought about a shop truck... maybe "Booger Hollow Texaco"?

Nice build, man. It was great to meet you a while back. Say hello to Jed, Granny, Jethro and Elly Mae for me.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

I wish I had taken a picture of the Camry with that bench seat strapped to the roof. I got some wild looks on the drive home.

I dig the picture & Kim laughed a ton. Think that might be the new scheme. Haha

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

More than one day, but I finally got all the original suspension & brake stuff off and replaced it with all new or rebuilt pieces.

McGaughy 13" Disk Brake kits F&R, new stainless brake hardlines and softlines (Inlinetube.com), CPP 4 wheel disc M/C & P/V, '76 upper & lower control arms with Moog bushings & ball joints, '76 steering parts (all new Moog pieces), Ground Force 1" drop front drop coil springs.

Rear is a built '88 12 bolt with an Auburn diff, 3.42's, new bearing/seals etc, and machined axles (to fit the McGaughy brake rotor hat), ECE rear shock relocation kit (thanks CC69Rat), and CPP rear deluxe bent panhard bar and rear drop coils, Total drop is 3.5" in the front and 4" in the rear. I didn't want it to be crazy low because I'm gonna use it a good bit. The wheels are 1st Gen Boss 338's...Front's=18x8" with 255/50r18 Toyo ST's, Rear's=18x9.5" 295/45r18 Toyo ST's.

Oh MAN, does it stop better. I also added a 1 1/8" (or 1 1/16") front sway bar too, so it handles right nice too.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

Question: you said you had an 88 12 bolt. Is it out of a truck? Did you have it narrowed? I was told the newer truck rear ends were too wide. Just curious. Truck looks great

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

It actually came out of a '88 Suburban (square body). Not narrowed, just had to change the perches from leaf to trailing arm...pretty easy swap.
