Ok questions for all you experts which I am not...
Was the Air Cleaner-Stove Pipe-Manifold Shield set up the same for a BB in 1970 verses the 71-72 model years or were they different? Was the Manifold Shield used in 1970???

Yes they are all the same on all big block trucks.

Here are some pics of how it is set up for reference. Two bolts hold the stove to the manifold, and a small screw anchors the pipe base to the stove. The pipe fits up under the air cleaner. It normally sits flush, but I have a carb plate at the base of the intake manifold which pushes the air cleaner up a bit. I have both the BBC and SBC factory setups on my trucks, and the BBC setup actually "fits" better and a lot more snug than the SBC setup...IMO the BBC stove is designed better for the shape of the exhaust manifold. The air cleaner spacer is the same height on both SBC and BBC setups. Bump for ya.
