Nice progress!

Are you too ashamed to say which board members you went to see?

HAHA, Nah Okay ya'll i went to the Boards Newest Movie Star Alan

And Sdailey was the seller of the parts, They were in AWESOME SHAPE!!! the belts cleaned up great they look brand new. I'm going back for some more parts.

You should have seen all the body men coming over and givin me HECK about pulling that stuff out and working on it. I'm goin to weld up the body side molding holes tomorrow. Going to try out the new welder i got, It was an ADT brand (125 buck) Gas/ 75/25 110 volt. So cheap i couldn't pass it up. Hoping to shoot some primer on it tomorrow.

-------------------------
i posted this question over on the inliners board, but i might as well post it here too.
*HEI, can i pluck it from any V-6 or does it have to be an inline 6?
*Water Pump pulley, I need a two groove to allow for the new power steering, so what do i need to look for? I've checked the online sources *NAPA, AUTOZONE, CAR-PART.COM and i search for threads posted here. No luck.
Thanks for all ya'lls input.

Spraying primer is fun. If you mess up it doesn't really matter, your sanding it anyway. Kudos for jumping in and learning.

Re: First Timers Build/Super Stock 70 Step

Thanks, There are 10 bodymen there and i got 11 different opinions on how i should repair them. One of them brought me a metal file and told me that he was not paying me for blocking and sanding time and that the shop was out of filler so i needed to hammer those dents all the way out. HAHA, i should have taken a pic of the before and after. I think i did pretty good for the first time. I'll get some pics up maybe tomorrow.

Re: First Timers Build/Super Stock 70 Step

So here is the results of sanding ONE fender for about two hours, 36 grit on 3inch screw on grinder pad. I think i am going to use a blaster on the back side or use aircraft stripper. This method is a waste of materials and time. i was hoping to have it primered today. Good thing i didn't have it ready..... Ran out of primer this afternoon. Geezz. well here is one of them sanded almost complete. I found some prior repairs i'll have to fix that as well. The fenders were in great shape. Thanks Shannon!

I mean really its a breeze all you have to do is hit it with a DA and spot finish it! HAAA, thanks!
Thats about all i am going to be able to do to the fenders this week, i've got a ton of work to do tomorrow. I will be going to back home, so i hope to get a handle on the power steering stuff.

Re: First Timers Build/Super Stock 70 Step

Saturday i finished taking the paint of the fender and the backside. Prep'd the hole for welding.
Went to my parents to install the power steering upgrade. However the bracket that craddles the power steering pump does not mount up to the bracket that is attached to the motor. I tried different approaches. I gave up as the rain was coming down. I will try to find a pump with bracket that will fit. here are some pics of the brackets.

Re: First Timers Build/Super Stock 70 Step

please do! the bracket the freshly painted one, mounts right up to the side of the block clears the manifold and is prefect, the L brackets mounts right to the spot it is suppose to. The only problem is the PUMP and the bracket that the pumps sits in. Its to narrow, now what i could do is grind off the nut that is welded onto the backside add a bushing in that bracket and slide a bolt all the way thur. But i dont want to Jack leg something when i can buy one. Just cant find one to buy. LOL.
Thanks Uno,

Re: First Timers Build/Super Stock 70 Step

I've been busy as you know what at work, i have not been able to work on the fenders. I plan on working with them this weekend. Should have the holes welded up and finish stripping them down. I have located a complete power steering setup. I was going to buy one from a board member tonight, but my dad called and told me that he found one locally. He is going to have it installed while they are doing the brakes. GREAT should have it drivng safely on the road in a few days now!

Very cool build! I like what you are doing! I wish I had my old truck road ready. I parked it around 10 years ago and haven't really drove it since. I did start it up the other day just for fun. I bet my tank is full of the same debris you were fight with. Keep up the good work and yes we really like the pictures best!

No better time than now to start back working with it.

Its been a while since my last post. Work has been really busy. I've been waiting on the power steering issue to get resolved. Finally 800 bucks later i know how power steering!!!! My dad drove the truck up today and i took them to Red Lobster for dinner, drove the truck straight to the auto parts store and hung out! So glad to have it road worthy and here with me. I am waiting to purchase a sandblaster before i continue with the fender, its to much work sanding with the little disk. plus the s/b will do a better job with less corrective work. I got a price for all the paint/primer sealant supplies. Um anybody got a few (1750) bucks to spare LOL. I think i might move down a little in the PPG line. Well i am driving it to work tomorrow and then to a car show. Sunday headed to S. daileys and Alan;s to pickup some more parts. I will add some more photos soon.
Ya'll have a great weekend

Re: First Timers Build/Super Stock 70 Step

Truck, is running great! however i still have leaves and debris blowing in thur the kickpanel vents. So took the Cowel panel off and tried to clean them out. Since i had it off, i took it to the shop and sanded it down and primed it.
Here is a photo of my boy and dog in the truck at the park and then the primed panel.

Re: First Timers Build/Super Stock 70 Step

Took the truck to the shop, wanted to get a little sanding done. I didnt take any pic today. But i will add some tomorrow. I sanded the right bed side fender and top rail. I have never used body filler, so what better time than now to start learning. If you mess up, Just sand it off. I think i did pretty good. I have a few small dings that needed to be bumped out. Took care of them and some rust pits. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

It looks good, i promise. I know the old saying, A post is not any good without pics. I will upload them tomorrow.

I was going to take the fenders off but chose to leave them on. I'm already driving with out a speedo. Everything is out of the cab, glove box, dash pad. Barely has the sterring wheel. HAHA. I will be changing the steering wheel tomorrow as well.
