Re: Saddle up 66 c10
Looks like an awesome place to start! Sheesh I remember being 17 joining hotrods.com and being the "young gun." Up until reading some of these threads I still felt like a young gun (I'm 30), but I guess I just aged faster than I thought.
Looking forward to following this build! My vote is for an LS with a T56 behind it. |

Re: Saddle up 66 c10
Just a little update, i've been pretty busy disassembly (Had a little surprise) and made a cart for the bed (You can see a just a bit of the front fender of the car that got me involved in older vehicles. Next I hope to get rockers and a door skin to fix the door and treat all the rust on the floor, and after that I will start my body work/paint possibly with the drivetrain mixed in sometime soon.

Re: Saddle up 66 c10
I figured I would just post this because I felt like someone might ask, the car is a 67 nova my dad bought when he was 16 and has kept for all these years (he is 51 now). He had many other muscle cars including some camaro's but he says that he is glad he kept this car because it was his favorite. Maybe Ill get the pleasure of calling it mine one day

Sweet looking Chevy II. Delays always seem to happen on our truck time. Looking forward to watching more progress on your truck.

Re: Saddle up 66 c10
Hi chevy.c10. Your C10 looks so clean, and your Dad's Nova is sweet. I was surprised that the floors are that rusty... I guess you never know until you get into it.
Like all the other talented young guys in here, I'm sure you'll impress us older dudes!

Re: Saddle up 66 c10
I was happy it wasn't worse. A elder friend of mine that has restored a few vehicles now calls all older vehicle onion vehicles, because the more you peel away the more you cry.

Re: Saddle up 66 c10
Well as much as I hate to looking at this this a few months ago, a curveball was thrown my way, any way my dad came up with a pretty cool idea of how to pull a large amount of the dent out at one time which involve some angle iron a bolt and a cable come-a-long as you can see the little tool in the picture, it took out most of the dent and i'm pulling the rest with a dent puller. Im not quite finished yet and it looked better now than the last picture I took shows but ill keep working it out until i'm satisfied with how it looks.

Re: Saddle up 66 c10
I have done it over that same product. The finish is a little rough for my liking, but on another, I did sand it a little bit and used a good primer, then the finish coat and it turned out good.

Re: Saddle up 66 c10
Its been a while since I gave an update so heres what is new, I changed my plan for painting the frame to using a product called KBS Coatings which is like POR 15 for those of you who haven't heard of it. I opted with KBS over POR 15 because of the better reviews. I plan on using the KBS on the frame and inside the front cab supports for sure and will use on anything else I feel it could use. After I use it I will post pictures and give my own personal review on how I liked the product. After I paint the back half of the frame and coat the cab supports I will weld my floor pans, inner rockers and rockers in one side at a time. Thinking about putting some shorter coil springs in the back when put the rear axle back in place and lower the front as well. Does anybody have any pictures of there truck lowered that I could use for reference?
