I'll make it out to see this thing run one of these weekends. Clean little ride for sure.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Thank you, I had a race scheduled up in Ardmore Sunday June 4th but it was canceled due to bad weather. Not sure when the makeup race will be for it. My next race is scheduled for Texas Motorplex on August 6th and then out to Redline on August 27th. I need to get out for some test runs while our club is off.

Noted. Both are possible opportunities to see some action.

Building a new motor for the S10. This one will be 430 with a 4" stroke, 14.5 CR and Brodix 225 Dragon Slayer heads. Here are some pics of the 1010 cfm Dominator E85 carb that will used on it. Hopefully soon I will have some pics of the motor for all to see.

The Carb Shop has it noted as Billet 4500 E85 carb with black bowls and metering blocks.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Ok, while I am waiting for the new motor to be finish up and dyno 'ed I decided to fix a couple of important issues.

I had a leaking rear-axle bearing. This 9inch axle ends do not use a seal. So, the correct way I was told to fix it was by cleaning the bearing and its bearing bore. Then install a new Oring in the bearings outer groove, put RTV on outer bearing race and in bearing bore. Slide it all together, bolt it and let it cure. I hope this fixes it. Pic of a clean wheel, caliper and axle end.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

I also found a loose triangular bar that's on the 4 link. Not sure why this loosened up. I added a flat washer and new lock nut. Its super tight now. I oiled all of the rod ends and made sure everything was tight.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

I also, went through the ATI Pro T400 transmission and cleaned it up. All looked good and I installed new pickup tube orings and filter. I will fill with new ATI Super F trans fluid once its back in the S10. I also installed a new Autometer transmission temp gauge. I broke the capillary tube when I removed the old one from the trans pan. Yes, that's a very small converter. It's an 8" Billet 4900rpm stall from ATI.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

The little S10 is getting a new heart. This one is a 430 sbc and the power numbers are 713hp at 6500rpm and 629tq at 5400rpm. Still running E85 as my fuel choice. The little S10 should fly.

Ok, the motor and transmission are in. Waiting for a few parts such as new vacuum pump, crank trigger and throttle cable bracket to finish the install. These should arrive this week. Then I can start it up.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Its running. Got it timed and the rotor cap phased in, fluids all topped off, tires all aired up. Just need to check the throttle opening to make sure it opens fully when the pedal is mashed to the floor. Then I need to spray brake cleaner in the vacuum pump to clean it out while it is being rev'd up, then give it a squirt of WD40. Put the hood back on, give it a bath and throw some shine on it. I will be ready for the track on Nov 9th and 10th. Not real sure how it will run. I turned it down because I want to see how the truck reacts as I increase the power.
My plan is to make the first pass leaving the lights at 3500rpm and shifting at 6200. If all goes good, then bump it to 4000rpm launch with 6500 shifts. My full power runs would be 4600 rpm launch with 6800 rpm shifts.

Xtreme Raceway Park out in Ferris. If the weather holds it should be a very good day for racing.

Killer set up, should be a fun ride! For your 9" leak, if it keeps coming back check these out. My brother would do a seal about every year on the 9" in his BBC wagon. Finally put a set of these in and it's been bone dry for the past 2-3 years.

I looked them over and thought about giving them a try if this last clean up does not work. Thanks for checking out the truck and yes, it is a fun ride.

I love a big cube SBC. I have a 427 SBC that was in my Camaro, but is going in my c-10 now. It's not a wild as yours, only 560-570's HP but still plenty of fun.

The thing that kept killing my brother and why he kicks himself for putting it off so long is it would always ruin a set of wilwood brake pads when it would leak. The worst part is needing to pull the axle and get an inside mic in the tube to verify the ID measurement but on a race car, not much of an issue to have something sit on the stands for a week or two torn apart if needed.

If it leaks after this weekend then I will have time to fix it. This is the last race of the season and the new season will start late Feb or Early March 2025. Hopefully its done so I can just go out and have fun with it.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

I used the last two races of the season to test out my new engine. Saturday night was extremely scary. I went to the right lane, set the transbrake at 3500 rpm, shift at 6200 rpm and rev limit to 6800 rpm. First pass the truck wheelied and pulled hard to the right. Came very close to hitting the wall, got out of it. Ran a 6.53 with a 1.39 60ft. For pass 2 I went to the left lane, turned up the transbrake to 4000 rpm, shift at 6500 rpm and left the rev limit the same. Truck wheelied, pulled hard to the right, thought I was going to hit the tree, stayed in it. I hit the rev limit and I thought it did not shift into high gear. Ran a 6.39 with a 1.37 60ft. I decided I would turn it down to transbrake 3700 rpm and raise the rev limit to 7000 rpm. Ran a 6.30 with a 1.37 60 ft.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Sunday was much better. I decided which ever lane I got into I would move over to the left edge of the groove. That was the fix. Pass one left lane, .016 red light and ran a 6.29 with a 1.37 60 ft. Truck left straight, wheels up and no rev limit. Pass two, right lane, .06 light, 6.28 with a 1.36 60 ft. Truck ran straight, wheels up. For me this was a great run. Third pass, first elimination run. Left lane, .027 red light, got out of it. Ran a 6.36 with a 1.38 60 ft.

Bummer on the red lights and hard pulls to the right! But the times are impressive. Any idea why it pulled so hard to the right?
