Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
I have just ordred plans for the lift..........Will it work with doors, windshield, and back glass intact? I would like to leave the cab intact until I have the chassis complete. Thanx Bill Burroughs

If anyone plans on having their cab painted off the frame and needs to trailer the cab back home you might want to check into the tip and flip dolly. I used the heck out of it for Lemon Drop and will be delivering the cab tonight on my trailer with out a single strap touching the new paint Not to mention it make it real easy on the painter! Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
I got the plans for the one man bed lift today and after reviewing I have only one question.......It seems like if you weld the nuts on the front to backarms to the end as detailed that when you secure the T-arms with the T handles that the handles will pertrude enough to contact the rear glass and maybe the windshield too if the glass is left in when lifting cab....would that be the case? In any event I suppose welding the nut on the side would resolve that minor issue. Plan to start building PDQ and the plans are well thought out and detailed...once I get the cab off and the chassis finished I will order the cab dolly plans and get to work.

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
hey kevin... how much to build me one and ship it out? i dont have a welder (or know how to weld!).
i would buy some of those plans, but im afraid the paper they are printed on isnt tough or large enough to hold my bed... *wink* |

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
I plan on ordering the lift. Looks great the help will be welcome. I have a hard enough time getting a few guys over to help, let alone 6. Will the dolly work for the 60-66?

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
Ever considered one for a blazer tub? I am nearing the start of two projects, one is a 77 w/half cab, and the other os a 75 full convertable. Not sure just how I will be moving these in my shop by myself, unless I build an overhead..
Thoughts, Drew

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
Just ordered mine. I wish I had heard of it before I hurt my back taking the darn off. I paid more for my physical therapy co-pays than the cost of the tool. Thanks Kevin. You're a great resource to this board and to our backs health too. Flo

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
nice idea, i wish i had on of those, last Saturday i sold a cab, it was 4 of us, and it was still heavy as hell. good thing the buyer didn't care about manhandling the cab, so we just tip it on one side off the frame and slid it down off the frame(ouch!!! you should of been there) i know if I was buying a cab i defently would not want it off the frame like this. but it was his idea, man that thing was heavy so I didn't refuse too much

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
I just seen this thread and purchased the plans for both the Cab and Bed lift and the tilt dolly. I can't wait to get them. Now I don't have to work around everyone else's schedule!!

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift
I have to say this thing is awesome!!! I was fortunate enough to see the one-man lift in action last night when I picked up by bed from lolife99, and it was as easy as making PB&J. When I finally get a shop I will be ordering a set of plans for sure!
Here's a link to a few more pics of the lift in action... Nice fab work Kevin!

Nice job on your lift. I guess if I were to paint mine it might not look like a pile of rust Thanks guys for the kind words. I built this for my self because my back keeped getting worse from over lifting. Now I can lift cabs and beds my self with out any back strain but I think I made it too late because my back poped last Saturday and now I may be looking at surgury to repair a life time of stupid lifting. Don't be like me and hurt your self, be smart and at least get help lifting from friends or a lift of some sort. I am not trying to sell more of these I just don't want anyone going thru what I am right now if it is avoidable! Sorry if my spelling or grammer is worse than normal but I am dopped up right now just to get out of bed and make my Kevin LFD Inc. |
