You are learning well, but always more I could teach you. There is nothing bigger than Chevy 90 or GMC 9500. What I meant was you didn't include the bigger series in your title. There were no C90s

Lots of great ones - see alot around here two - that is what the majority of the grain trucks are that you see around harvest time in the fields.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

Hi, Great forum, and I haven't posted yet but do lurk and search for info quite often. I realize mine is a 78, but I know many of the parts are still the same. Do you guys have any good sources for brake parts, wheel & axle seals, etc? Seems like as common as these trucks are across the USA, parts wouldn't be as difficult to locate as they are here in southern Il. Oh, here's a pic of my 78 crew cab c65:

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

Shocked that nobody has commented on all the tow hooks. Both the "industrial sized ones" and the twist-curved pickup-sized ones mounted atop the bumpers.

I saw several sets.

That style of hooks is very common on the 40-50-60 series trucks and are not the same as the pickup ones.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

Different vintage, but I am also a fan of the Medium Duty GM's.

I'd love to get my hands on a squarebody C-60 dump truck and doll it up. I think that would be sweet!

So... let's have some engine and trans spec's on these for those of us who don't know anything about them. I understand they had some long stroke big blocks? Must be torquey as hell!!

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

These are not 67-72, but they are GMs.

First one is a '63 GMC-6500 with a V-6, 5 speed and 2 speed rear-end.

Second one is a '77 GMC-6500 with a 427, 5 speed and 2 speed rear-end.

Third one is a C-50

The only one that is mine is the dump truck.

Danny

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

Growing up my dad used to haul rock out of a quarry in the corner of the farm. After he quit that he sold all his dump and spreader trucks which were all 50s and 60s trucks but kept his 68 C60 dump to use on the farm to haul corn from the combine to the bins. He bought it from the state of Iowa and it had like 25000 miles on it. It had a 292 with a four speed and a 2 speed rear end and fully loaded it would still go highway speeds. Next time I go see him I'll see if he has any pics that I can scan.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

He bought the truck in the early 70s for $2500 and used it for rock but made it a farm truck to haul corn and oats from the field. So it got used a few times a year. Never did anything to it but put gas and a battery in it and go. Then let it sit till the next year. He sold it for $300 in 1990 before we moved to Florida and the guy drove it home with no brakes lol. Like I said before it was a 292 with a 4 speed and a 2 speed rear end and was never at a loss of power we lived near the Mississippi River and there were a lot of hills too.
