Re: Got my 1 piece windows

Sorry guys progress is slow, Ive also been out of town for a few days. The new window regulator I bought have a different siccor radius witch means the holes that the window track interfear with the opening and closing of the window. The factory power window is fine but the window motor is alot slower than the after market one. I made a few mods to the tracks to see if this will work, but I ran into a few problems there. I got the kit to work but I'm having window alignment problems, so I'm getting the bugs out and on the passenger door I'll have a detail post for you guys. I know how you guys feel some times you may want to see how a kit works before you make a purchase. I'll do my best to get the pics posted ASAP. The job isnt that hard I can get it all done in about 4 hours the problem is finding the time, for me atleast.

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

I was afraid that the original regulators would need to be replaced when making this one-piece mod. I wonder if throwing a relay in each door for each regulator would help. If not, I guess new replacement regulators are needed for this mod. I bet Brothers would welcome your experience in this window mod.

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

Hey guys I called Brothers about this kit they refered me to the guys who originally designed the kit the walked me through the process. It seems I did every thing the right way but I'm still having problems with the alignment. So there out of SoCal & the guy is going to take a closer look at my set up. I'm going next week for business any ways so I'm going to bring my two doors and see if they can get them to work. Personally I think the actual window has to much curve in it. But I've been wrong more than once.

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

You know I also contacted Brothers and they saild there is NO DIFFRENCES in 80's windows and 70's windows there all the same and I thought we had another conversation on this thread about diffrences in the windows. So I do'nt know about this kit unless you show some good progress than I would'nt buy them.Plus why are'nt they on other trucks I can'nt find NO PIC"S

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

Sorry guys no I dont have updates I have taken my truck completly apart (the cab off frame) I'm currently working on installing an aftermarket IFS I purchased This is my major concern at this point. I need to figure the window problem soon, and I will I asure the kit is pretty easy to install so there isnt any way to goof up. Not to knock the kit the kit is pretty awsome but it may still need a little R&D.

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

Nice idea... think I'll sit back and see how this pans out. I'm familiar with the issue of finding time (Married with 2 kids + 1 on the way, & wife works nights). Even I still find SOME time to work on truck & post pics.... JFWY... Good luck on the mod(s)!

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

Just a note for some of you, considering this mod.

The October 2006 of the Classic Trucks rag has a write-up on the installation of the one-piece windows. The owner had even upgraded the regulators to what EJC78 uses (Electric-Life) and was able to slightly mod it to make the one-pieces work. The article covers some of the alterations needed to install the one-piece windows. The on-line article may be found at http://onepieceproducts.com/images/O...ksMagazine.pdf.

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

So, is this kit boxRODz posted different than the Brothers kit? It appears to be, but One Piece Products (OPP) appears to be using Brothers images on their site?

FWIW, OPP's kit is 25 cheaper than Brothers, and they have a downloadable instruction packet too.

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

Jeff-
I'm guessing that OPP is the original manufacturer of the one-piece window and Brother's just sells the kit. But, I could be wrong. But, I was wondering if OPP uses some glass shop in Georgia where it was reportedly making the one piece windows that was posted months ago. Interestly enough, OPP is also working on a sliding rear window. I know Brother's had mentioned this in an eariler post, but too many alterations were needed to install it. OPP still lists it as an upcoming product. They also mentioned that they are working on a flush-mount windshield. Maybe, they should also focus on a flush-mount rear window.

There was a guy at the Clasis Heartbeat truck show & BBQ in Olympia, WA last weekend that had an '83-84 truck with a power rear window. He said he had made it himself but had given or sold the design to a company. I wasn't part of the original conversation so I didn't catch that part but did see his go up and down.

Re: Got my 1 piece windows

the company that makes the glass for Brothers is Pete's Autoglass in CA.
http://www.petesautoglasscenter.com/index.htm
They own One Piece Products.

This is from one of their ads, which probably explains why I haven't heard from him....

I pulled this ad pic off the above, but who knows how long it will be valid...
