Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?

I drive my R30 to work about 3 days each week. Don't generally drive it in the rain because it's a bit squirrelly unloaded, don't drive it the days I have to fly up to San Jose for work because it sucks to park it at the airport and I don't drive it on days where I make the 80 mile round trip to LA.

Other than that, I drive it every chance I get!

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?

I “daily-ed” both of mine – the dually and the Sub – for quite a while. I slammed the dually then drove it every day for about 2 years before the trans went south. Then I parked it and started driving the Suburban. Drove the Suburban for another year and a half before my company gave me a 4x4 F-150 to drive.

The Ford is really nice, but to be honest, I prefer the older iron. Every once in a while I leave the Ford at home and drive the Sub to work.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?

This is my daily driver. She works in the Alberta oilpatch at least 25 days per month. The mud on the truck was done in two wheel drive. Paid 1600.00 for this truck pretty well the way it sits two years ago except for the bumper and headache rack. I will go more places in two wheel drive than buddy will in his jacked up duramax, have more fun in the process, and probably drive home while he is on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck.
This is when Chevy STILL made a four wheel drive truck

A lot of neat daily drivers. 72LonghornTx thanks for your service man. You get back safe and join the rest of us that are collectively adding to any national fuel shortage.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?

My '80 is my daily driver during the rainy Seattle fall and winter. When the weather is reasonably warm and damp-to-dry, I ride my motorcycle. But otherwise, I take the truck. My commute is about 16 miles round trip, but I'm fortunate enough to only work 4 days per week.

Thanks! It's not as nice as many of the trucks on this site, but it's slowly getting nicer, a bit at a time.

My '75 that hauls me around, rain or shine but never on the ice. Luckly we don't get much of the frozen stuff. The wife has an '06 GMC crew cab, so if for whatever reason I have down time, I can still get around. Fuel prices are going to have to get REALLY bad before I park her.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?

I drove my 74 every day for 6-7yrs. I traded it in 2010 for the dually & drove it daily until the motor locked-up. Trying to get the dually wrapped up but w/fuel prices escalating, not sure if it will be 'every day' or not. Most likely, I'll be scootin' around town in something that gets a little better mpgs.... my 64 .

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?

its a cover that was on the truck when i got it. i was going to glue it down because when you pull out fast it likes to go in the floor lol. but the sun got it over the summer and warped it so now its sitting in the garage collecting dust

Though if gas prices get to bad, might have to take that blue and white thing a couple days a week to work
