Hey GO, whats the deal with the brake booster bracket, is that one factory or home made as my longbed has a similar or the same one.

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
the bracket is an adapter 2 bolts for the single cup master holes in the fire wall and drilled 4 holes for the booster it was 2x5 tubing it was just a pain boring the large hole but i think it looks good i saw Dino did it on his sub so i copied it!!

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
hey, does your sub frame have those vulcanized rubber core support front mounts?
I just noticed them on my 64, and saw some on the 66 I am using for parts

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Yep, the '63-'66 Suburbans and Panels have those. I'm not sure about the '60-'62's.

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Quote:
the truck cab is much shorter, so it probably puts a lot less stress on the front mount. the frame is the same as a short bed truck, ...but in the very back it is different for the mounting of the rear bumper, the front mounts are in the same spot, but as mentioned the sub mounts are flexible with the vulcanized rubber.. the rear (cab) mount is in the same spot, but it is a different shape than c/10, it is narrower.. there looks to be a few outboard mounts towards the rear that might be different than the pickup. here is a pic of the rear section of the sub frame... you can see the dip it takes for the rear crossmember, and the bumper mounts

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Great looking Burb! Watching these ones makes me really want to get one. I have one found but I have to sell my 86 before I can go buy it. But I will soon. Keep at it, I will keep watching the updates with everyone else.

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Your burban is looking sweet! Are you still planning on shortening the lwb chassis from your truck or just transferring everything from that frame to the burban frame? Cool color combo too! Keep it going!

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Looks good. Where in Upstate are you? They just brought in a 64-66 GMC suburban here that is rusty, but has some decent parts on it.

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Looks good! Keep it up.
I am eyeing a burb in town. It has been sitting in the tree line for a few years now. I think I may stop to talk the guy out of it this weekend. My wife will be pissed, but oh well. I already have 2 66 LWB and a 64 LWB.
