I'm starting to wonder. Trucks parked out in the weeds is it a requirement for them to be full of tires and other stuff? Mine came full of tires and a parts truck I might be able to snatch a few things off of is well full of tires and aluminum siding.

Congrats on getting it on the road too. Sorry for Rambling. hahaha

Got some work done today. Pulled the floor mat out and found some rust no big deal i kinda figured it would be there. Little worse than i thought it would be. And now its running like crap ugh!! At least it made it home!

Dove into the motor a few days ago. 5 out of 8 plugs were fouled ! Probably why it was running like crap. So i had an older offenhauser 360 dual plane a friend gave me, so i tore it down and did some cleaning and such. The distributor will be where it should be now and a little paint.

Got it all back together and it runs great! Finally got around to pulling of the rear cover to find a stamping of 9/37 which by my math is 4.11. Which could explain the high rpms and the low speed. About 3500 at 55 mph.

My question is can anyone id a gm 12 bolt carrier? I had a friend give me one and i think it is a two series carrier so i could change my rear gears to 2.70ish to 3.08 range. Any ideals?

I don't remember the dimensions but basically the farther from center the ring gear flange is, the higher the gear you can run. You might try checking the websites of some of the vendors that specialize in differential parts. They might have ID info.

WOW !! It's been a while. But some updates. Got a set of 3.07 gears from a friend, well actually it was a whole complete rear end. Pulled it apart and got what i needed. Got a guy who is gonna set it up for me, so that should help with the freeway driving!

Found out that the motor is way to hot for what i want to do. So i am pulling it apart changing the heads and timing set. Has anyone used one of the aluminum radiators from ebay? Gonna order one of thouse up and start driving her everyday again!

Check out CPP f you havent they have a bolt in Cnotch deal thats pretty inexpensive and easy as sh1t to do but you only really need to if your dropping more than 5 inch (maybe I missed this in your thread)

Can you use the chevy sending unit in that tank? Ford uses a different resistance on their sending units don't they? I'd sure like to use one of those tanks if I could slip in a sending unit and have my stock gauge work.

The chevy wont fit. I was just gonna hook it up when it had a full tank and mark what it reads then run it down and see what it reads.

Sounds like you might need to know how to monkey around with resisters and electrical systems. Yikes, thats beyond my level of learning. I'm still in search of an easy bolt in that will work with Chevrolet electrical.

I actually meant just keep an eye on where it runs out but i guess i could find the right resistor and solder it in line. Good old stick works also !
