Re: Old member, new truck

My paint came in tonight, and I planned ahead and sand blasted my door panels at work yesterday. Blasted and painted with SEM paint, new window cranks from Classic Parts, cleaned arm rests, and I even managed to score a matching one on eBay to replace the roached drivers one. I also replaced the felts and wipers on the doors, and on Sunday I had time to replace the passengers window regulator that came with the truck, they did the drivers but didn't get the pass side done.

Re: Old member, new truck

I ordered wipers while I was ordering window cranks from Classic Parts. I have a pet peeve about black wiper blades on older vehicles.

Tomorrow nights project is install my tach cluster, and new bezel, and get my stereo head unit installed. I hate driving without music.

Re: Old member, new truck

Stayed late at work and disassembled my tach cluster, cleaned it, replaced all the bulbs, and put it in with a correct year bezel. I wired my head unit tonight too. I just need to plug in my deck and slide it in the chassis. I ran out of time and the dog was ready to go home. This is a great working cluster, I gambled on it on eBay. My other gauges had some problems.

I like the look a lot. I've been trying to decide what facia I will use on mine and I think I like the brushed aluminum the best. Also, I have a clock where your tach is and I know I'm going to need that tach. So, you've done well, grasshopper.

Thank you, I went with the brushed aluminum style since it has it on the passenger side of the dash where the AC vents are. I have my HEI ready to go and I'll be installing that this week. I cleaned it up, put a weight and spring kit in it, and new cap and rotor. I was digging through my parts stash and found an old set of never used in the box AC Delco black HEI plug wire set I picked up at a swapmeet a few years back for $5. I'll also be fixing the fuel line that looks like a roller coaster track, I've got a busy week so that should be all I can get done. I'm going to sell the MSD 6AL, coil, and Pro Billet dist to fund some Flowmasters so I can get rid of the cherry bombs and cowboy tips.
I'm hoping to have this old girl dropped by sometime next month. Just need money for spindles and shocks. I have my material ready for the home made c-notch...working at a hot rod shop has its benefits!

Re: Old member, new truck

I sold my 98 last week so outside of my 67, this 78 is my main transportation, I need it to be mechanically solid, that's why I'm busting all the work out as quickly as funds allow.

Re: Old member, new truck

Craigslist score of the day. Boss 338's, 20x8.5's with 4.75 bs and 20x10's with 5.5 bs. New, never mounted, three had never been out of the box. $800. Dude was super cool, had three 67-72's and an 04 SS with a supercharger on it.

I need to get this thing dropped.

HEI installed, fuel line fixed, and engine degreased. Still plan on replacing t-stat, housing, and radiator and heater hoses. Wish I had a better before pic.

It's amazing what can be done with no female interuptions! I did a complete body swap on a truck by myself, before I got married. 12 years of marriage, and I'm lucky to get a full day to work on my projects..... Truck is looking great buddy! Keep it up.

Cherry bombs and big chrome tips have now been replaced with three chamber Flowmasters with mandrel bent 45 degree kick outs. It sounds so much better I didn't even turn the stereo on driving to work.
