Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
Here's my 83. She gets used for work and as my daily driver. SHe's usually hauling scrap metal or hauling parts for my crew cab. I haven't decided if I'm going to replace the bed with another factory unit, or if I'm going to go with a flatbed. I guess it depends on if I can find a crew frame of this body style- one I can put a standard cab on and make a looonger flatbed.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
Here's my '86 Jimmy. I use it daily for work and it doubles as my emergency response vehicle with the FD I'm on. It has a mildly built 350, bored .30, Crane Energizer cam, Dynomax exhaust.

Here's mine, I bought it use in 89 for 23k, had 25000 miles, it now has 73000, I just use it to tow a trailer, it knows no other way ... except going to fill them dual tanks without the trailer , it's easier .....

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
Here's my '84 flatbed! Nothing major has changed on it except the brush guard. The one I put on it is about 30lbs heavier than the old one. Later I plan on building a full replacement pipe bumper/brush guard for it, but for now it looks good to me

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
I guess I will add mine... 83 c20. My dad used to use it a lot for pulling a cattle trailer and hauling stuff to the junk pile. The pics make it look better than it is.

A couple friends are really big into flying. One used to use his DC3 for taking parachutist up but, was getting hassled by FAA. He since has been using twin-engined Beechcraft. He buys them when he can. I had special equipment made up for towing these wide loads. The one pictured was never registered cilvilian and was still designated a C45. There's a nice one 30 miles from me that was parked outside when the hangar burned down. Good it was out, bad the wings were in the hangar. Also another pic of the first plane. if i remember correctly there's still 50+ DC3s flying charter / cargo ops in North America at the moment. that's pretty impressive. you know what they say tho; if it floats, flys or firetrucks... rent it. |
