It will be done. I know this issue oh too well. Its like buying a 7.3 and not putting a fresh cam shaft position sensor in........... just not as deadly.

Today it began Rottenwood Garage style. . A little break down, retro fitting, pressure washing and staring at it took place. Tomorrow begins front clips and cabs. Lifestyle!

Looks like it's coming right along! I always hated those little running boards...it will be a big improvement without them. Will be cool to see her on the road again with Cummins power.
I would have liked to sold it all intact but would have taken a Big loss.

The Chevy came apart tonight. Mating the two together starts Saturday.

Fits like a glove. Wood block body mounts soon to be replaced with neoprene bushings.

My thoughts exactly on both items. I was reluctant to post after your response to someone objecting to Dodge components. Looks like a good fit for the cab.

Was the wheelbase correct? No lengthening or shortening?

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.
The Dodge wheel base on the 89-93 was 2 3/4 short. The wheel base on the 94+ was 1" short. The body is set where it needs to be to accommodate the engine, radiator, condenser and inercooler. Because of the "body lift" being used and the height of everything the 2 3/4 " difference is barely noticeable. When the front wheels are straight and certainly not worth the trouble of changing things in my opinion. The front wheels are back about and 1.5 and the rear wheels are forward about the same. We had planned on making the front 100% correct and moving the rears aft a bit but once we lined it all up the consensus was to leave it alone. Just for everyone' info...the frame was about 3.5" wider than the Chevy also.

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.
If you're alright with constructive criticism, I immediately noticed the wheelbase was off in the 3rd pic down. It'd bug the sh*t out of me if it was my build, but I'm not the one who has to be OK with it. Bigger tires may hide it some.
I talked to a guy one time who had a nice lifted '69 F100. I asked him what frame he'd put under it. He gave me an odd look & asked how I knew it wasn't on the original chassis. I mentioned the WB was off. He'd been driving the truck for several years, & said I was the only person who'd ever noticed (or at least mentioned) the difference. It was about 1-1/2" off in the rear. So maybe I'm just weird. LOL |

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.
Shifting the front rearward is a good move to give yourself a little more room between the engine & rad support. I cheated my axle back a 1/2"- it is very tight between the fan & radiator

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.
If the front wheels were straight it would not be as noticeable. They are sitting at at pretty good left turn. The body isnt locked down yet and I am certainly not opposed to adjusting it a little. i will take a picture with the wheels straight and see what we all think. I plan on dropping the radiator and shroud in the support and moving things back just a hair. i can massage the rear axle and fender a bit when I cut those hideous fender steps off.

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.
I may have misunderstood your recommendation, but if I move the body back, allowing for the front wheel to be centered in the opening, that would push the radiator aft toward the engine and fan. Thus is the reason is is where it is. I do plan on moving it around a bit just to see.
