Re: LFD's upper door seal idea!
None of my trucks go fast enough to create wind noise...but it does look like a good idea =)

Re: LFD's upper door seal idea!
We use it as a secondary seal like you did on the lower compartment doors on the hauler below. I think it is from Hanna Rubber Co.
Link to their website & catalog: http://www.hanna-kc.com/ I'll grab a piece of the rubber we use on the steps too. I bet we could use it on the rocker thresholds.

I bought mine from ECE and they are the standard ones for a 67-72. I also liked how easy the 73 and later one's just push on but they were just a bit to large and you had to really slam the doors and still had wind noise. I have tried several different kinds of weather stripping adhesive but I found the yellow 3M works the best. It is a contact type of cement and holds great. I recently tried their Black version thinking it would hide any over run or the glue but it did not hold for more than 203 months before it just started letting go from the rubber. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: LFD's upper door seal idea!
Okay, what about the burbs? Would your seals work on the third door since they are more right angled than contoured?

Re: LFD's upper door seal idea!
Ok here are some very scientific lab results on the decrease in wind noise. Normally with my windows up I have my stereo turned up to 29 anytime I am doing over 45 mph. I just had to run into town for an appointment that I was running late for so I was pushing it and with out realizing it I was cruising at 80 and I had to turn the stereo down from 29 to 24 because it seemed too loud

Re: LFD's upper door seal idea!
I'm definitely interested. The wind noise from a recent trip (on a very windy day) nearly drove me crazy. The only way I saw to fix it would ruin the door gaps and reveals by setting the door deeper into the opening, so this sounds real good to me.

Re: LFD's upper door seal idea!
Sounds good I should have some $ in a few days. It looks like I will be needing a few hundred feet of each type so that may drive the price even lower I hope. I had a few feet left over so I fit it in the 3rd door of my 72 Tahoe and it fits just as well as the truck with a couple placement changes because of how the front edge of the door closes compared to the trucks.
If you want a set you can PM me and I will start a file so that way once it is ready and priced I can send out a PM to everyone on the list. Kevin LFD Inc. |
