Re: thoughts on this.
Thats what i was thinking. Now if the guy will take $100 bucks and i take all i need PLUS the 700R an pull out the motor and trans than it's a lil more wrth my time but i dout he will be game.

Re: thoughts on this.
If you could get the diesel 700r4 along with the engine, then I think $1000 is a pretty reasonable price. Diesel 700's are a little different than gas ones, and the linkage is ridiculously hard to come by. I just paid a guy 300 for a 2wd 700r4 for my 6.2, and I had to go pull it myself. But I got the torque converter with it, and the TV linkage and bracket. So I got away with everything I wanted, and we were both happy with the deal. But $1000 for just a 6.2 is over-priced. Hell, for that much money, I'd SHIP you one of my spare engines.

Re: thoughts on this.
Diesel 700 have different governer, TC, and may have slightly different TCC lock up wiring (because of no ECM). Basic trans is the same. Preferred solution is K case trans w/ diesel wiring and governer.
I'm absolutely not trying to discourage you to make this swap. I've got 2 spare motors to build for a future swap project (my 87 is getting pretty tired). Having lived thru my personal diesel issues last year, I'm trying to make sure you have what you need to be successful. It is NOT as easy as swapping SBC's, where any part is available in a nearby store or jyard. having all the parts to do the swap is key to a hassle free swap, and the best way is a complete donor. For example, the 700 uses a TPS on the IP and the TH400 uses a vacuum valve. The 700 uses a diesel only TV cable, bracket, and link rod, and the last 2 are available only in a jyard. it takes dual batteries and the cables are unique. The starter, WP, and PS are unique. Got a vacuum pump? Motor mounts (rubbers) are different. etc. On the other side I get 22MPG in my 87 6.2 half ton. Pretty hard to beat.

Re: thoughts on this.
Seen that one a while ago. Seemed a little fishy to me. Had a couple of them all had the same km's on them, also they seemed like high km's. You need rad, batteries, battery trays, motor stands, oil cooler to install . Also tranny. I am hooking mine up to a sm465/np205. One day I wil get a nv4500 when I can find one.

Re: thoughts on this.
I just purchased everything of a guy $430 for a complete engine compartment good running 1989 6.2L. tore it down to check it out and it's a good one. Just a couple of weeks later I riped down another for a complete top end of a 1993 6.5 turbo. So I got everything and some for $730 plus my time. Lots of spare parts also.

Call these guys: http://www.dieselfixer.com/
My suburban has one of their engines in it, 32000 miles on it and still like new, no loss of power. Trust me, well worth the money.

Re: thoughts on this.
Lol, I got my 6.5 with a whole 1995 G3500 Vandura wrapped around it for $500. Seeing this thread, not sure if I got a good deal, or not.
I say just keep looking. I ran into mine out of the blue... As far as what you need, as long as you have the complete engine, and the matching transmission you are good to go. The only real wires going to the engine are to the starter, the glow plug controller, IP shut off, the AC compressor if you have one, and the alternator. A factory tray can be cut to work on the opposite side, and the cables are easy enough to make with a torch, flux, and solder. Scroll down for a modded tray. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=434087&page=2

Re: thoughts on this.
Get a 2wd NV4500, you can then mate it to a NP205 t-case.
