Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90
I would figure all you would do is take the transfer case off and put a tailshaft from a 2WD on it, but I could be wrong.

Nice truck! I am excited to see another LS swap. The tinted windshield is so far beyond legal here in CO. Looks cool though.

Your truck is looking awesome. Are you painting the entire engine or just the valve covers?

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90
right on. thanks for the pics! looks like you guys are right.... they just took the transfer case off and bolted up a new tail shaft. wonder how the trans computer is going to act without it? and for some strange reason i thought the front axles came out of the oil pan on the ls 4X's.

The TCM will be fine the conversion from 4wd to 2wd wont affect anything cuz its going to be tuned for the cam and recalibrate the transmission cuz in this suv they got a switch for sport mode but i wont be able to use that option in my truck so i try to get something in between. Its better to get an 6l90 from an SUV and take the transfer case out cuz they are tougher than the 2wd version 6l80. |

Update:
The truck is back and cleaned out. Seems like i need a new radiator support & inner fenders. I was qouted $1500 for the radiator and i don't know what. My ears stopped listening as soon as they said $1500. We might try put the esclade stock radiator if it fits. What the heck kind of radiator are you looking at. If I spent that much on a radiator it better have at least an engine and trans connected to it, if not a whole truck!

What coat you are taking about because the truck looks like it has decent clearance to fit anything. It be really nice to see Kooks or ARH headers on the truck. Quote:
I got a new style esclade radiator with the their electric fans they really look good and it has engine oil cooler & trans oil cooler. They will need some work before they fit but because they are wider by 3 in from each side. Last edited by v502; 06-25-2011 at 10:19 AM. |
