Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
Nice trucks but an FYI--- Last year I sold a 2wd longbed with restored, working factory a/c and a great running 350 and all the trim and a restored interior for 6500 (my profile picture).
Those trucks are all about double what they should be...nice trucks but not worth over 8-10k market value. as mentioned, if you expand your search nationally, you will find similarly nice trucks in that 8-10k range. Pay for a third party inspection and 1500-2k in shipping and save yourself thousands.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
All three of those appear to have been restored. IMO that wipes out any milage claims. A low milage truck is desirable as an original. Once a truck has been restored what does it matter if it has 40,000 or 240,000 miles?
Of course I am telling you that from across the computer, maybe in person they appear more original.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
Dealing with a dealer you have to expect that they are in business to make a profit and I think are trying to make 4/5000 on each of these trucks. If you removed that kind of markup from their asking prices you'd be closer in line to what you could buy one for privately. There are board members that are wiling to check out truck for you if you found one and it wasn't near you. In fact Shawn (71swb4x4) that has been commenting in this thread helped me when I purchased my truck and I didn't ask he offered.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
I don't know if member Brian Atkinson is still selling/still has his Ochre/White Cheyenne Super for sale? It is an automatic with A/C and priced right. Here is his "What is it Worth?" Thread...

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
While I wouldn't refuse any one of these beauties, if they were given to me, but you could easily get two, or three, trucks for the price of one of them. It looks as though the seller has been watching what they go for on Barrett-Jackson, and to " Give you a great deal", he cuts his prices in half.
Seriously? The third one? Non-original, color changed, and modified? $18k? I would say keep looking, and get what you want for a lot less. This way you'll save money, have some to add your own touches to make it yours. The last thing is you won't be wondering "did I pay way too much?" on a daily basis. My .02 |

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
I would NEVER buy any classic from a classic car dealer , you'll pay 3 times what it's really worth .

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
My preference would be #1 and then #2 but I don't like the last one. All three seems very nice restore. But if they've been a lot time at the dealership there is a reason why, they are waiting for the right buyer that is willing to overpay. If you want it bad just offer $3k less and see where it takes you.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
I thought truck #2 was supposed to have patina?
Granted, I'm not as knowledgeable as most guys on here, but that truck looks restored to me.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
You can probably do better on eBay even. That said, I like the 3rd one. Really nice truck.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
The 71 with no repair documentation looks to have 72 doors.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
Without the pics a 350 automatic setup is hard to beat! oppps!
All appear to have had some work at one point or another. The real trick is how they did the repair work...Rust hides in unseen places. Unscrew the vents in the A pillar and have a look with a flashlight and inspection mirror. Also in the back cab corners, unscrew the sun visors and look in there. If you have an inspection camera even better! Last edited by toolboxchev; 08-06-2016 at 11:58 PM. |

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
Here is a Cheyenne Super on EBay. 5150.00 and also a make offer box so you could probably get it for 4/4500. and yes to ship home to you. There is even phone number to call. To me this looks like an original unmolested Super Cheyenne. The only thing I see wrong from the pics is because its a Super Cheyenne that it would have came from the factory with chrome front bumper not the white one that is on it. Now with being said it could have come from the factory with the white bumper if it was one of the last ones built and GM was out of chrome bumpers. If you get serious about make sure all the A/C stuff is intact even if it is not blowing cold. A lot of times you'll find the A/C parts removed.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
350 sticker on the air cleaner of #1 not original, also not centered.
#2 has an aftermarket wheel Agree with the others that these are not unrestored Last edited by StoningtonQB; 08-08-2016 at 02:52 PM. |

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
I like #3, all factory options and a big block. However, I would never pay that much for a long bed.

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
#2 doesnt have patina....it has a repaint, and not in the right scheme as it did from the factory. Id pass on all of them and find a different one for that price. You can find way better for way cheaper. Just my 2 pennies
*shouldnt say way better...should say way more original

Re: Which truck would YOU pick?
There are a lot of better deals out there, and a lot of trucks to choose from since you want a long bed. Keep looking...

My biggest fear is ending up with a rust bucket because, while I can spin a wrench, I am not a bodyman. This truck will be my 'pre-retirement' truck and I'm not done working for another 8 years, so theres no hurry. One thing I HAVE decided is that I want a truck that has been well cared for, even if that means some tasteful modification. I simply don't have the knowledge, space or time to be tearing down and rebuilding one myself.

Since you have time, set up an ebay search for exactly what you want (color, year, etc) and check on this forum and on searchtempest on craigslist and I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for. Since you're wanting a truck without rust, I'd recommend paying for a third party inspection that guarantees their inspection to make sure there's no rust. Check the visor area, cab mounts, radiator tray, kick panel area (use inspection mirror to look into kick panel vents), and check all over for bondo...especially in fender cups and backs, door bottoms, and over wheel arches in the bed.
