Re: Solid back window or slider??????
I've had both and I like the solid glass for a clean look but love a slider for no AC and for driving by chicken coops.

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
i have a slider... its handy for when you lock your keys in the truck!
*** replace the chrome welting with black and paint the frames black. with a deep tint is the next best thing to a solid... |

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
I'm voting for a solid,Every time I opened mine the grit from what ever I hauled last would swirl around until you hit the right speed and then blow in the cab.Sawdust was the worst and sand a close second

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
def. solid.... looks cleaner. sliders are practically useless....unless you like eating dust, or whatever else was left in the bed! I changed mine from a slider.... not easy to find one up here... every truck around seems to have a slider and no a/c! The only thing beter than a slider is that flush mount back glass! ....that is sic!

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
Solid power retractable back glass. Best of both worlds. I've got one in storage STILL awaiting a new home to be installed in. And no, it's not for sale.

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
I actually don't have a slider. I have a solid. I say a slider because I have no A/C I've seen them that had screens in them to keep the trash from flying in. Anyone seen those?

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
No kidding. And I forgot the time someone got in through the vent window and made off with a Surefire light laying on the seat. The time they stole the back glass too was the only event at home, not to much you can do when you're out.

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
I like them both I really like the sliders on the 82 and newer front ends and then I bought my 78 and I really like the solid back window now I don't know why it just looks clean.

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
i like the look of the slider which i have in my 85 . my 88 has a solid but picked up a free slider for it a while back . i live in a low crime area so breaking in not really and issue . dont have a/c in the 88 but would be a pain to keep opening and closing it in a crew cab as you cant reach it from the front seat .

Re: Solid back window or slider??????
The cab that I swapped had a slider already in it but mssing the latch so I ordered a latch kit from G.M. partsgiant. It wasn't exactly cheap and its made of plastic?? Holy crap!
Well it fit but if I use it much I don't think the plastic hinge will hold up long. I may change the slider out later I dunno. Is there not a metal lock kit for the slider? Last edited by HOGDADDY; 09-23-2010 at 01:14 PM. |
