Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
[QUOTE=superflysteiny;4437508]Thanks guys should be good. So talked to Nate couple days ago and drop member is on its way. So like I stated in a previous post hood and inner fenders came out when I put the upper trim on. So here are some pics of the trim on the side of the truck along with the new marker lights. Paint condition on the outside is an 8 out of 10. On the inside 5 out of 10 because it was not wet sanded and buffed so there is some runs and orange peel, I will be doing that this weekend. Also my standards on paint are really high do to the fact that I like show paint which as you all no takes alot more work to get. Again with this truck I am really having to control myself from building an all out show truck. I am trying to keep in mind that it is a driver. I plan to shoot out to az for the goodguys shows and this is the truck we are taking.
I've got a friend that builds at your level, the most fun he's had is a '34 Ford 3 window coupe with good paint but needing the cool factor. Traditional wheels and tires, tri power, finned covers, traditional steering wheel and column, etc. The car is amazing in my view, but he doesn't have to justify the paint as he didn't do it, and zero stress driving and parking it anywhere. (its like your black truck, averages joes would die for) Anyway, look forward to another of your builds and good on you to take care of your Dad. That's Super Fly

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
You may as well just tear it apart now & get a head start, cuz you know you will end up doing it later! After you remove the bed & front clip for the DM stuff your already half way there. Haha just messing with you, don't listen to the voices in your head or you will have another full blown project on your hands! What's the saying "keep it simple stupid", but if that was the case we wouldn't be on this forum for hrs every day. Have fun & good luck!

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
What method do you use for "correct placement" of the upper moldings?
Or did the mouldings come with placement instructions? Everything looks great!

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
Same question as above...also, what did you attach the trim with? Did you drill any holes?
Thanks Smitty

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
Sure I can answer that. The front fenders were drilled. So I found the old manuals on this forum that showed were and how the trim should be place. I also shows how far the holes should be placed apart. I took the measurements from the manual and the existing holes in the fenders and that was my starting point. I would tell you before you drill for the trim make sure all fender door gaps are correct and make sure bed is level and that all body mounts are good. If the mounts are old and cracked replace them first. My drivers side of the cab was lower by a quarter of an inch. So it is very important to check this before the bed is drilled. The kit was factory so it was retained with clip/nut and bolt trim tabs with plastic double sided tap. I was a long day putting the trim on because I had to almost pull the front clip off to get to the back side of the clips so I can put the nuts on. Hope this helps.
