I'm glad you got back from your deployment safely.

I suspect the diaphram in that pump is rotten so you should either replace the pump, or find a repair kit for it. Even if the diaphram works now it will go bad soon after being dry for that long. Your bed looks almost exactly like mine did when I got it. The PO had removed the original strips and welded in some angle iron and laid in a steel plate.

Good luck with the build. You mentioned that it was worse than you thouught. Well, aren't all TF's that way, LOL. After replacing my door bottoms, hinge pillar, hinge covers, etc, if I were buying a TF today I'd know a lot more about what to look for.

Russel, are the pillars the inside of the door hinge area? by the body mount? i need to order whatever patch panel or pillar that is right in front of the front body mounts at the lower bottom of where my front fender meets the door hinge internal to the body. I hope that makes sence? Its the area the arrow is pointing at..behind the skin not the body mount but the thin framing..

The pillars are the verticle area that the door hinges bolt to. From the pic yours doesn't look that bad but it's hard to tell. If you can post some pics of your rusted area from different angles it will be easier to see what you need. All of the repair panels are available so everything on an TF is fixable. You are definitely going to need a floor panel. You are most likely going to need inner and outer hinge covers also so you will need to remove the fenders to get to those. With the fenders removed you can get a much better look at the area you are asking about and see what panels you will need. Look in the LMC catalog http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=26 to get an idea of what you are needing.

Could be parts 11, 14, and 15 will be needed, per the drawing, 15 is a removable panel that is basically flat. Pull it and see what is behind.

The PO had done the same floorboard trick to mine, it caused water to fill the area and stay there rusting out even more of the original floor board. He had also sealed it with tar and tar paper and latex caulk. Fun to remove.

i'm thinking parts 10, 11 & 12. i had to replace 11 & 12 on both sides...
(and floors, rockers, steps, cab corners, hinge pockets, door bottoms, door skins and pretty much the bottom foot of my truck)

I do believe your correct Ogre #11 is the most damaged..So is LMC cheaper than Classic trucks of america , i have purchased everything from them because it seemed LMC had the same as classic trucks but higher shipping charges? I have a new dilema.. I have fuel to my carb now! But i am not firing up? I have power to my coil, and i have power to my points or point non plural.. I checked for continuity today.. I tried to jumper a wire from my plug wire to my spark plug and had my wrenchin buddy give it a whurl! Again No spark? Is the 8 volts produced by the voltage limiter or regulator enough to be seen as an arc across a jumper ?

I bought from several sources, some on ebay with free shipping, and LMC as a combined amount, also local at a few shops. My windshield was a hundred bucks less and I picked it up from a retailer 50 miles away, on my way to Portland where I was going anyways.

I just talked to classic parts of america , the tranny cover panel i ordered a week ago will not ship for 3 weeks! So called LMC and they have it and it will ship tomorrow, but it is over 25 dollars more ! Decisions, i would like to have the panel so i line the floor pans up correctly..I am also glad my build is making people feel better about there builds. I am not easily discouraged, and i live outside the box..I am enjoying this so much. Now if i can just get enough spark to get her to start up!

I am at a loss with my ignition.. If you read above in the the build you will see what engine i have, also that i have all new ignition parts. I am getting 12 volts to my points under my distributor cap from the negative side of my coil.. Why? I have a power wire going from my igniton to the current limiter on the fire wall that should reduce the voltage ? Then it runs to my coil, but i get power to the negative post off my coil..Then the power runs through the neg post on the distributor, after the condenser it still gets 12.5 volts. Which i know is to much for my points to handle after prolonged exposure to that voltage.. But what puzzles me more is that i am getting no spark to my plugs..the only way i am getting any type of arc acroos my point is when i cross the point to the post that is supposed to arc off from with a screw driver..

I started working on the eyebrow on the drivers side front fender today..I am waiting on a few part before i can figure out why i am getting 12V everywhere from my ignition even when i am supposed to get a lesser voltage after the resistor to my coil..But anyways this is what i got started today before work..

I used a plasma cutter for some of it, but a cut off wheel was used to clean it up after.it is going to be difficult to make that damn roll on the top of the eyebrow, trying to take my time and keep looking at how KABWE did it on his before he switched to the single eye style...Thank you for the viewing of my pics. i hope to put a bunch of floor replacement pics up this weekend and next week..

Try small diameter exhaust pipe, may have the right curve to it.

Oh by the way OLDCOUPLE did your tranny cover panel come in with wrinkles in it ? I got mine from LMC (first panel i have ordered from them) stamped from tiawan on the back..lol.. It also had a bunch of wrinkles, Just wondering based on the picture you posted..Just wonderin?

No, I was a good part Dii, I think I got it off ebay, it was about 50 bucks, included shipping, but took forever to ship, they gave me some lame reason, but it shipped from CA and the tracking number showed it only took two days after they processed it.

It's great to read these threads where guys are actually working on their trucks. This is a good example. We've got snow on the ground and the garage is COLD! Would cost a fortune to heat.

I still work on my truck when it is cold a cheap propane heater is all you need

It was NW florida cold here today with rain and wind in the high forty's.. My buddies 64 gmc stepside blew a rear main on his vette 350, so we prepped it for removal before it got to Dark..got everything done but sliding the tranny back..

Got to work on the fender a little this morning, it takes quite a bit of time bending and, cutting and knocking out this patch !

no sense getting anymore welding spatter on those rings or lites
