Little bit of a hijack ... He is totally going through the whole truck and eventually I believe it will be black. He's very good at this sort of thing so the truck should be pretty amazing when he's done.

I have the 2" EZ ride on my 67 K20. I spent extra money and ordered Bilstein 5150 shocks from a place called E shocks. I always felt like the truck was too bouncy. Especially the front. Now I'm wondering if it's the shocks?! Maybe I'm gonna try some cheap ones and see if it rides better. SD truck springs is the cheapest place for Tuff Country lifts btw. I searched for a long time and they were the best. Great service as well!

I had air bags (overload/ helper bags) on my old 1/2-ton. Kept 5lbs in them when I was unloaded and 20 -30 lbs when I towed or hauled. Worked pretty good but even with 5lbs of air in them they stiffen the ride a bit.

Just got my TC 2.5 inch EZ kit installed (spring/block) with added 1 inch zero rate in the rear to center axle in the wheel opening.

Sorry if this makes all you short lift guys mad but if you look at my avatar ( haven't figured out how to down load pics from my phone) you will see my bone stock beet up 71 with 33-12.5 15 on 15x10 5.5 inch off set they clear with NO truble!!!! So I would say if you are only going to run 33 save your Selfe some mony! Daystar sells a 1.5 inch schakle and rough country sells a 1 inch block yes this will give you some rake but not enuf to notice and you will retain the smooth stock ride!!!!!

My tires had a ton of room even on the bump stops when stuffed. For a LWB that actually sees rough trails/rocks a suspension lift helps reduce high centering or rear bumper drag.
For dirt roads, shallow mud (minimal suspension cycling) or street queens stock springs are fine. |

Let's be real mr Redroad a lwb with a 2.5 inch lift and 33' is not going to tackle a very rocky trail!! I have a 98 gmc 4 inch lift with 305's a 09 rubicon 4 dr with 3.5 inch lift and 315's! Your truck with 2.5 inch lift and 33's will drag and get hung up on pumpkins the same as my stock with 33's after all a 33 is a 33! You will have no more axle ground clearance the me!

You are correct that this daily driving kid hauler is not going to tackle the hammers or rubicon but its not built it for that. This one will be for desert exploring, eastern sierra, mojave, big bear, joshua tree, death valley and some southern Utah trips and occasional snowboarding trips to Mammoth.
Black diamond days are over for a while with the newborn in tow so its just off the beaten path camping and mild trails for us. Its true that the diffs are still low but for me its picking the right line rather than building it super tall to compensate for the wheel base. My old scout was a great trail rig(4 in lift 9.50s 345/T98 44s 4.10s posi) when it was just me and the old lady but there is no way to get the kids, dog and gear in it which is why a jeep sized vehicle is useless to me now. My 75 K10 SWB 454/465/205 with 4 inch lift and 33s (which would lose some height with 12psi) would pretty much take on every local BD trail it would fit on and usually end up pulling out late model rigs with larger tires and lifts who's owners plain out could not drive. My 74 K5 383/465/205ts with custom 6in lift giving 18ft/22rr travel, detroit/Track Loc, 4.56s and 38s was unstoppable but I still preferred the wheel base and the center of gravity of the 75. I build my rides for specific applications which is why I always have 5-10 vehicles in the fleet to choose from. As the family grows so does the wheel base and required comfort level thus the burb with auto dual A/C small lift/tires. Even with the small lift the next set of tires will be some 35s but I think that will be the limit. |

It's not a Rough Country lift, but it is a Skyjacker 2-1/2" lift kit. New springs all the way around with a 1" zero rate block in rear and BFG 33x12.5x15's. Also, a thread to the first look after install. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=620627
