Summit one has no bulbs. We were discussing just wiring, which is a SIGNIFICANT improvement.

Do you have sealed headlights? If so, no bulb replacement.

I've also used the Sylvania upgrade (cool whites? They suck) and the Hella one. Hella makes a better light, with replaceable bulbes that uses a H3 headlight bulb with an open housing.

AND if you're really mean, you can put the "offroad only" bulbs in there...

So your first link to Summit that is posted is for these Hellas or a regular light?

I like the idea of using these with the off road bulbs.

The first link is just a wiring harness, to be used with any standard (read non HID) light.

The second link I posted is the Hella replacement headlights that allow you to change the bulbs. They come with an H3 bulb but an H4 fits in there and is easily available.

Turned out those are for the 9005/9006 bullbs. <edit 9/24

No biggie, after I saw the 2nd post I wanna go with the Hellas anyway.
I'll just order the wiring set up at the same time.
Thanks for the links.

This is what I'm using. The relays were $1.50 ea, and the wire pig-tails were like $2.00ea. The pig-tails inter-lock with each other, and keeps them secure. When I ordered mine I got 6 relays and 4 pig-tails and the total for the order was around $23.00

Well, I went ahead with this project idea on my GMC today, holy cow that makes a big difference!

I used what I think is 8 gauge stranded wire for the high beams, 10 gauge for the ground and low beams. I'm quite impressed with how much brighter they are now as compared to before! And thats with it at just 12 volts, I can only imagine when the truck is running and the voltage is at over 14!

Does that include the ballast, conversion housings, and bulbs?

Yeah, the clear glass housings are about $30 and the pair of ballasts and bulbs can be picked up for 180-275 depending on brand, new used etc.

Question

If you go with the Summit kit, what kit do you buy for a 1971/72 Chevy K20??

9004 or 9005 etc., etc.???

Thanks,

aquik72gmc350, I noticed that relay socket you used has 14 gauge wire for the power. Is this enough for the headlights?

would this work with the summit kit? Seems pretty cheap combo. $30 for H4 housings and bulbs
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/67-81...01582779QQrdZ1

plus $20 for the summit kit.
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...art=SUM-890035

Would these work together? $50 total!
