Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

spent a few hours last night scraping under the truck did everything under the bed the frame, axle, leaf springs ect. The truck has had a rubberized coating put on everything under the truck its falling off in some parts and others its still stuck on solid and it actually looks like its done some real good under there for keeping stuff from rusting so what ever dosent come off with a pass of a putty knife and then wire bush i feel wont be coming off.

This weekend i want to paint everything under the truck from the cab back with gloss black and maybe do a few items inside the truck to get the theme of this thing going

i have the rear axle scraped and cleaned took hours was down there with a putty knife a few scrub brushes and some degreaser. Got the carpet riped out some rust on floor but very little. Scraped the driver side door and jam it had blue flaky paint on it still need to do the other side and i got one door panel striped down and sanded ready to fix the holes and primer it.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

I found a paint at Walmart that pretty closely matches the original silver the inside of our trucks were. If you are interested.

The Chevy guys have been using the same brand of paint, but in Champagne Nouveau color, to match their Fawn interiors.

Deleting the armrests, or are you going to do a fresh re-mounting of them?

Saw you driving your other truck northbound on Fort Street at about 10:30 this morning. Looking cool.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

something i found out while trying to mount this bumper straight was not to go off of the tape i messed with the tape for 45 min trying to get it lined up just couldn't do it. then i just started eye balling it witch worked much better then the last thing i found was taking pictures of it really helped because you could look at a still of it and judge distance.

Looks pretty bulletproof!

Why did you put the spacer under the front pieces?

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

well that driver side was about a half a inch lower and you could tell big time so when i brought that side up it made it so i needed to bring up the pass side a tiny bit to get it looking perfect
