Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
Another log on the pile...1969 1ton low mileage original. No HS.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
I remember reading some literature that said automatic trans equipped trucks received thermAC vacuum module on the air cleaner and the preheater from the exhaust manifold but four speed trucks did not require that emissions equipment.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
That may very well be the key with the 1/2 tons. I have no evidence to the contrary. The Burgundy K5 that leads this thread appears to be a manual truck and does not have a HS. 3/4T and 1T may not follow suit because of differing emissions standards. Here's a 69 Longhorn(green) auto without...and a 69 1/2T auto (apparently) with.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
Here's one. 69 307 AUTO with heat stove. No SPID or VIN info on this truck so the date and plant of manufacture are unknown...but it's a CST with a rear view mirror, and headliner, but no cargo light. So it's late enough in the model year to have some, but not all of the CST option add-ons.
This truck fits our hypothesis.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
'69 CST/10... Custom Camper likely a Oct/Nov truck. Born in Fremont with a VIN ending in 27955. It is a purported one owner 53K mile truck and looks the part. It's an automatic and has a heat stove. So the automatic holds true.
Edit: I previously posted this incorrectly as a C20. I just saw the Custom Camper nameplate and assumed. Still no 3/4T with heat stoves. But so far all '69s that I've found with heat stoves have been automatics.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
The engines were built at the engine plant without carbs or any engine "Dress". They then went to another assembly line where they received the proper carb, and brackets for the different options. Plus starters, motor mounts etc.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
I think the pic in post #25 definitely bears that out.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
Early 69 k20. No stove. I’ll get pics Sunday and revisit thread. Fremont truck sold in Oregon. I’m second owner.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
My early '70 3/4T with a 402 BBC and 400 THM has the vacuum valve in the snorkel, but no pipe or sheet metal around the DS exhaust manifold. It has an exhaust manifold with no AIR fitting attach points on the driver's side, and an exhaust manifold on the PS with plugged AIR fitting attach points. I met my wife in 1980, and the truck hasn't changed in that time, to my knowledge (except that my FiL got it painted and the shop didn't paint the part below the lower molding white like it was from the factory. I busted his chops over that, and he busted mine back. Not my truck! I realize that mine is a '70, but I guess that the factories did different stuff at different times. FWIW, I worked on spacecraft for many years, and while they conformed to the electronic communications requirements, mechanically they could be quite different, within the design parameters. One spacecraft program I worked on was spin-stabilized, and every one of them got balance weights in different places.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
Steven...after collecting pics of original examples for a while, I think it's safe to say that only 1/2T automatics got heat stoves in 69. No 3/4Ts (likely because they'd lag on emissions standards). No manuals (which means no 4WD trucks). Blazers were later in the model year, so all I can say is I haven't seen a 69 Blazer Auto (all were 4WD in 69) with a heat stove.
By 70, they all should have the heat stove. While it's possible you could have mismatched manifolds from the factory, I think it more likely an exhaust manifold came off at some point and the heat stove tin (as is often the case), did not get replaced.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
The engine and trans were rebuilt about 25 years ago, so those parts could have been left off. It's a CST but the windshield doesn't have the stainless trim in it. If the windshield had been replaced, knowing my FiL, he would have told them to leave it off. That was possibly done, since the old gasket had no provision for the trim. I replaced the gasket when I pulled the windshield to clean up and paint the roof.

Re: What trucks got heat stoves in 1969?
Not to throw a wrench in the works, but i have a 69 swb fleet that had an automatic and NO heat stove. It was a Fremont build not for CA. Unfortunately it's all apart now, but it was a low optioned truck, no AC.... only had an automatic, AM radio, and HD rear coils.
