Re: Ever wonder…… PICS
She's a beauty! If you ever have to replace the insert material for your seat, I have only found one place that carries any of that pattern (SMS Auto Fabrics out of Oregon). I can relate a bit to your truck. I inheritted my grandfather's 71 and paid for a replacement title just so the state would not shred/destroy the original one from March of 1971 when he bought it. My jaw dropped wide open when I saw the file of paperwork he kept on the truck. No window sticker or protecto-plate, but sales invoice and everything else.
As for the rain, these are real trucks and can take it!

Pop the hood on that rascal and show us the engine compartment! That will be terrific for future reference.
What are your plans for it. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention those holes are probably for a CB mic clip. |

Re: Ever wonder…… PICS
That is great!! What a truck. When I see an original it makes me rethink all of what I have done to mine. I LOVE the leather key pouch. I bet that is 37 y.o. also. I would do just what your doing. keep up the maintenance on it and park it back in the garage. Maybe a car show here and there or a parade. But thats all.

Re: Ever wonder…… PICS
Nice looking truck!! Was the lower trim added? It should have trim around the taillights and on the tailgate too if it had any side trim. I like the paint stripe too.

Re: Ever wonder…… PICS
Thanks for all the comments everybody!!!!!!! Here is the story on the truck. A friend of my dad told us of a truck he knew about, so we checked the lead out and could not believe the condition of the truck. We met the owner of the truck who was a 87 year recently widowed lady who said we needed to deal with her son about the truck, so we met him and found out that they would sell the truck.
Turns out that his dad bought the truck brand new in 72 and that they also bought a brand new 72 Grand-prix big block (she still has the car by the way and it is a nice car too). Anyway, the truck did not sit its whole life, infact; it was used lightly until he died a couple of years ago. Even after that they keep the truck in excellent running condition. The good thing (for me or the next owner) is that they put most of their miles on the Pontiac and rarely used the truck. They lady said that the truck has never spent one night out of the garage and even better than that, her husband always kept the truck in the garage during the day and would even put it back in even if he just ran to the store or something. So we bought the truck and drove it home 70 miles with an ice cold AC to boot. The truck has absolutely ZERO rust but did need some expected freshening up. I am sure some of you have noticed that the truck is a custom deluxe but has carpet. The original rubber mat was torn and worn some so we decided to replace it with new carpet. Also, as Joesjunk mentioned, we did add new Mark-k lower trim. My dad and I agreed the truck would look much better with the trim, but decided that the factory paint stripe was way to cool to cover up with upper trim. The truck is super nice and would be nearly impossible to replace it, but we simply can’t keep it because we have to many toys and unfinished projects going on right now, so more that likely it will be on the trucks for sale board and on ebay before to long………….Jason
