Found another mistake. If you ever build a frame for a C50. The drop amount from the top of the frame to where the front clip sits across the frame rails is 4.25". Not the 3" I somehow measured off the C50 when it was fully assembled. Other than that, everything on the frame seems to work well.

Here is the front end after cutting another 1.5" off the top to fix my mistake. I will make a 3/16" plate that I will weld inside the frame rail to beef it up. My jeep frame is the same height and thickness on the front and I have beat the tar out of it and never had an issue. The extra 400 lbs of the diesel won't be a problem for a road driven vehicle.

Got it all sewed up tonight. Looks like where I was 2 weekends ago! Will try the front clip again tomorrow when I get some help from a buddy. The next step is to remake all of the rubber body mounts out of polyurethane.

Mizzou got spanked...
Got the front clip on and have the mount for the front grill all measured out and ready to mill. For the front cab mounts I used the factory C50 brackets. I bought a body mount kit for a C-10 from energy suspension (3.4108G) and the bushings marked "4010" are a perfect fit. The back cab mounts are 3.50" tall and will have to be made. Hold on to your shirt when you go to buy 3" diameter 85A polyurethane!!!! Expensive stuff. |

why not do like the off road guys do and make a spacer block out of aluminum ? if you have the right size bushing minus its height .
lots of guys doing this for 1" -1.5" body lifts these days .

Got the 2nd cab this weekend. It needs rockers and corners. The crossmembers and underneath are very nice. One of the nicest cabs I have ran across in a while. A neighbor of mine had it. I got lucky on this one!

Haven't had much time to work on it lately. Busy, busy like everyone else now days. I included a pic so everyone can see how the clearance I had to redo on the frame for the front clip worked out. Measure twice and cut once, right?? Not in my shop I guess...

Awesome!! I am in the no body work club too, but I have thought it over quite a bit, Especially since I have 4 cabs setting in my barn. I had to call a friend to talk me out of cutting 2 of them to pieces last week Haha

Lucky you! I wish I had 4 cabs to work with. I have looked long and hard for these 2 cabs. There is this guy in Hermann MO that I went to look at some parts at. He had at least 6 perfect cabs...and I mean perfect. He also had 3 primo Blazers. Dude wouldn't sell anything. I guess he just wanted to brag and tease me. I don't blame him, I am sure he has a lot of time in finding them. But why advertise and then not sell.

This looks like a great build . Can I ask why you didn't want to use the original frame ? I would guess there plenty strong ? Keep up the great work . I'd love to build a reg cab truck like this with a big flat bed .

The original frame had several fire truck items that had been welded on and cut off over the years. It probably would have been fine but would have required a BUNCH of cleanup, etc. I really have no reason other than I wanted to I guess. In hindsight I would probably be much further along than where I am.

Question. I bought a 69 c50 and Im going to swap in my 79 K3500 DRW axles in. Any idea how close the spring perches are to a 3500 axles? I dont have my hands on the c50 yet.

The frame width on a C50 is 34" to the outside. Not real sure what the perch width is on a 3500DRW. It will depend on the spring mounts you choose to use to mount the springs to the frame. It's easy to cut the perches off and weld a new set on when you get all shackles and springs, etc mounted to the frame.
