Re: 71 c30 project
Thanks lolife99, I found a bed for my truck and when I stopped and asked about it the rest of the truck was behind his house and he said it came with ithe bed.lol killer price and the gentleman had already bought rocker and cab corner patch panels. Only reason im curious about the crossmembers is because I have already "pancaked" my c30's 1.5"

Re: 71 c30 project
That's a mighty fine looking donor truck.
Is it good enough to be a candidate for a flatbed DD? |

Re: 71 c30 project
well I actually thought about trying to find a swb frame and having another project in the wings. The guy even gave me all the patch panels for the rockers and the cab corners, plus a heater core.

Re: 71 c30 project
Ok so anybody that has read StreetTrucks or has found it on the forum has heard of the One and Done, the event that PorterBuilt, Dino and a bunch of others put on earlier in the year.... well this is my version, unfortunately I was the only One and I'm nowhere near done... here is the progress from today..

Re: 71 c30 project
If you had a crew of two perhaps you could have removed the plant matter between the rear wheels. Alas, for the want of another.

Re: 71 c30 project
Thanks man! Yeah the donor is pretty solid with the exception of the rockers and cab corners. I honestly got the truck for the frame and bed.. but hey the cab has a title and I have a soft spot for short bed steppers...

Re: 71 c30 project
Not much progress to report today. Mainly cleaning out an area to store everything while the frame work is being done. I will be jumping back on the teardown in the morning. I did however have enough time to order my notch and adjustable trailing crossmember from PB online.. Can't wait til they get here! Thanks to everyone who has commented on the thread so far I really appreciate it!

Re: 71 c30 project
Ok so I got some pieces and parts moved around and over to my other place for storage. My buddy came to the rescue with his service truck to unload the cab. I was also able to the motor, trans and rear end. Just got to pull the front suspension tomorrow and then take the frame and clean it real good. I also helped the wife get some Christmas lights up. Here are some pics from todays activity.

Re: 71 c30 project
Question for you guys, are the frames all the same on the 60-72 c10's, and is there anybody close to me that might have a set of step side fenders the color of my truck or any color they want to turn loose of?

Re: 71 c30 project
Ok guys I've been a little slack this past week. I was able to finish stipping the donor and get the frame washed and inside my basement. The rest of the week has been cleaning up everything outside from the tear down and scratching my head like a monkey doing a math problem trying to figure out how much and what kind of notch I was gonna do on the front so my steering linkage could pass by after moving everything up 1.5" to match the pancaked crossmember..Well tonight decide to go for it, I took a bazillion measurements and drew the notch several different ways and this is what I settled on... Its not complete but you get the idea.

Re: 71 c30 project
Thanks Rus, I just hope I didn't take to much out of the frame. I got some 1/4 plate, thinking about making some reinforcement plates for both sides.
