That looks way too nice to rip apart. The 73-80 Suburbans seem to be more rare than the later ones and I prefer the round head lights anyway.

The wood grain has got to go though. I'd repaint it that same blue and drive it.

I have heard that brown shoe polish works to restore the wood panels. I have them on my 73 but have not tried it yet. Its worth a shot if you by it and shoe polish is fairly cheap. Looks like the tailgate may have been repaired in the past since the wood is missing back there. Also what is the siren for on the left inner fender?

That is one nice Sub! I'd also vote not to part it out. Some consider the woodgrain hokey nowdays but as said its certainly period correct. If you were closer...................

I'm with the crowd that says it's too nice to part out. That's a true survivor, and it would be so cool to see it in its original state driving down the road. It really is a time machine.

Seeing the general condition has made me rethink things. This is why I posed the question to you guys, to get opinions. I could put plates on it, clean it up and drive it over the winter and deceide what to do with it next summer. If I did want to sell it, unless I wanted to wait forever and not clean it up, I would have to put money into it to make it nicer. Then I'd still have to advertise it on a national level to garner enough interest in it to get real money for it. Or, or...I could start parting it to get my money back and more to finance the build, keeping the components I want. This would be a good reason to actually subscribe to this forum so I could sell stuff
As far as Bagged and Biggies go i'd love to see that! If I got my stuff out it would be a perfect candidate for a dropmember, bags and a big LSX!

well engine trans and power steering and brakes arent that much or hard. you could pull a engine out any small block non computer controlled truck thats totalled with the trans add power steering box and switch master cylinders to a power one. the cross member shouldnt be that big a deal either you could just move it or build a new one for little money. if you want to be awsome get a wrecked 99 up truck get the ls engine, trans, and ecm and swap it in.

Well I finally bought this truck! As soon as I figure out how to post pics with my new phone I'll put some up. The plan is to clean it up and attempt to sell it in on piece. I will be subscribing to the forum to give you guys first dibs on it. If it doesn't sell I'll be forced to part it.

Don't subscribe to these guys just to sell it, it'll bring a pretty penny on ebay. If they won't let you try to save a true survivor for free, they dont deserve to have a chevy anything site in the first place.

I'm greedy? It takes me and Liz 80+ hours a week not to mention server fees and other expenses just to keep this place going. How about you go to work and work for free and be on call 24/7 365 days a year with no breaks from it and then call me greedy. I've missed birthday parties, dance recitals etc for my kids cause I had to deal with issues here to keep the site flowing and the community going. So until you sacrifice your entire life for this I don't think your the one to call anyone greedy. I'm merely working my ass off for a place for all of YOU guys to post and appreciate these trucks while feeding my family. So if you have a problem with that don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
