Re: New '66 owner
You probaly can't imagine how many of us would have loved to have a nice and straight project to have started with. The money you save ALONE on replacements panels and such will be a big help.
Congrats and Good luck

Re: New '66 owner
Thanks again, all, for the kind words. I have so much I want to do to it, but it runs so good that I can't stop driving it long enough to work on it. I've been tinkering with little things each night, but nothing major. I'll post more pics as more visible changes take place.

Re: New '66 owner
Sure thing. Let's plan something local. I've found a couple other guys from our area on here as well. Andyboy, here on the forums, has a nice GMC here in Visalia and 64shortbox is in Tulare.

Re: New '66 owner
Count me in! There's some cruise nights at the A&W in Visalia at times and Aero Dogs in Tulare. I'm currently working the graveyars shft 7 days a week but I would sure as heck do my best to make it for a while anyway.

Re: New '66 owner
I'll start a thread tonight in the California forum and see if we can gain some more interest in attending a cruise night somewhere in the area.

Re: MisterC's "Project Luigi" Thread
Up until now, I've been posting the progress on my truck on the "What did you do to your truck today" thread. After reading through several of the build threads last week, I decided I'd like to have my old build thread. If nothing else, it's nice to have just one place to go back and look at things. Leddzepp was ever so kind to move my post from the general section to the Project/Build section so that I could do just that.
First let me start by some background on my truck's name. I know that most trucks end up being named after a woman, but I just couldn't come up with a woman's name that would make me think of the lines on these trucks. My kids say he's like my best friend and my name is Mario, so they named him "Luigi" and it stuck. At some point, I'll go back and add some pictures of the work I've done from the start, but for now, I'll just pickup from where the last posts left off. From the time I picked him up until after the CPP show in March, my primary goal was to get it roadworthy and to be able to trust it to make the trip to CPP. Well, the show came and the trip went off without a hitch. With the next C/10 Club get together scheduled for May 20th in Stockton, I figured I had plenty of time to take on some more upgrades and improvements. With that said, I pulled the master cylinder off and installed a power brake booster out of late model chevy using CaptainFab's booster adapter plate. I've gotten the vacuum line hooked up with the help of a new manifold vacuum tee. All I have left to do is bend the new brake lines from the master cylinder down to the crossmember.

Re: MisterC's "Project Luigi" Thread
When I got tired of working on the brakes, I thought it was time to remove the old coil springs and install the sway bar that I picked up from the pick 'n pull at the same time that I purchased the booster.
I purchased a set of 2" drop coils for the front and 4" drop coils for the rear from Early Classic Enterprises. The previous owner had cust at least a coil out of the front and heated them to boot. When I jacked the front end up to start work on the sway bar install, the right front coil literally fell out of the cradle onto the ground. The rear springs look like they may be the infamous TJ springs that people talk about. Very tall but can't haul a load worth a crap.

Re: MisterC's "Project Luigi" Thread
Here is a couple of pics of the stance after the coil spring replacement. I know it's not as low as a lot of you guys like, but it's perfect for me. I'm going to need some taller wheels/tires to fill up those fender wells a bit. This will become my daily driver after this round of improvements and it will tow my boat as well. You can see by the pic in my avatar, that it previously had quite a bit of rake. That's not my thing either.
Right now, I have the side trim, which I came by through a great deal on these forums, mocked up before I start to polish it.
