Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

wow, around here theres at least 20 in city limits, blazers, trucks and burbs. then out of limits i can think of about 5 or so, but most of them are for sale. Our town fire department has a 72 step for a county vehicle haha

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

I've seen a bunch of trucks around here. I usually see 2-3 different ones every time I go to town. I've only seen one suburban, and there are no K5 blazers in my town. My uncle has the only 69-72 K5 that I've seen in NE GA.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

I refer to the street behind the Fred Meyer where I live as "the street of dreams" theres like 3 lifted Cherokees, a 69ish GMC, 3 other 69-72 chevys, and a lifted blue blazer but the last (and only) time I saw it the front end was smashed up

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

Here in Santa Maria there's gotta be 15 I see cruising around, from disasterous beaters to nice originals. Most of them are still used as daily drivers or are working - there's a real solid '65 3/4 ton by where I work that hauls stuff just about every day.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

From April until October, I ride my Harleys on the weekend with several friends. We usually go about 200 miles or so and spend a lot of time on back roads (best for riding and scenery) in western and central New York and Western PA. My head is constantly on a swivel for deer and old trucks. I have seen very few. I am always hopeful that I'll find a great parts burb for cheap but I have never seen one tucked away behind a barn or garage. I have seen lots of deer, but thankfully not up close and personal.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

I live out in the country about 4 miles from a small farming community of 1000 people.

I have two and my son has three that are driven at least weekly.

Other than ours I know of two more in his town that are being driven.

It is hard to say how many are around that are just rusting away, there are two within a couple of miles from me. The owners won't part with them so far.

The majority of the trucks I see are lwb fleets with very few options.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

Theres probably about 10 in my small town of 13,000. So far i havent seen another swb besides mine. There is a 50th that just sits on the side of a busy road. Couple jacked up 3/4 tons. If you drive about a half hour past my house to an even smaller town of about 5-600 there are plenty of square bodies, probably 5 67-72's, at least 2 swb. I live in a farming community so you do see quite a few old farm trucks.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

When I head to my familys house in Missouri from here I am always looking beside or behind houses and shops... You never what you will see.

I saw a 67-72 blazer a while back that looked like it was a county or state vehicle at some time that still looked pretty good.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

I just saw another one today when I was driving mine to Napa. It was a '69-'70 K series, looked and sounded good. I forgot to mention that Oldiron is just up the road from me also (about 5 miles) and he has 2 also. Oh ya there is a guy at the collage that I go to, he has a '69 short step.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

I didn't think there were as many sitting around our area as there really is. Mathew, Brother's69C-10, and I drove around for 2hrs one day and found about 15 trucks. 6 or 7 67-72's and the rest were 73 up. We prolly saw more than that if we really counted, but those are the ones I really remember. One was a 71-2 C10 big block, a/c, tilt, blah blah never going to be finished poor heap truck. One was a 68 anniversary K10, and one K20 roller frame. So I'd have to say there are quite a few around here still. You see a lot of rusty work trucks and some nicely restored ones as well.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

Ok here's a few pics of some of the ones around here. Some body has to start with the pics LOL. I see this one at church sometimes.

Saw this one a local HS ball game!

This one was a local CL listing, too high for what it was!
I've got more just have to find them!

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

Ok here is one rotting away. The guy doesn't want to sell it and is going to fix it up. I've been watching it for about 2 years now. It has a 454, a/c, tilt, and PS, PB. Poor truck.

Re: Driving around spotting old chevys...

I know the orange truck, but had not seen the rest. There are several up on Edwards Cove- 25 or so and you prob. know who's they are :/, There is also a couple at the intersection next to jukebox junction, just across the bridge. I swaer there are more 4x4 trucks in Haywood Cty than anywhere else around.

Next time I go up to Wyoming I'll try to get some pics. There's an a$$-load of trucks up there.

I see a couple around the Denver area, but not like out in the country.
