so many holes to fill, why not find a good short bed and convert it to shortbed?

Rust and dents give it character eh? I like the long bed, I'll still be using my truck as a truck for a while hauling things and such. and its really not that bad.. Most of the rust is surface rust.

But there is a new doghouse on the list

Re: The Scary Truck

Alot of nonsense and tinkering today while waiting on wheels to dry. Tomorrow I leave for 2 weeks of vacation. Which means I'll be away from my truck Took some pics with the new shoes tonight. That pesky running board is stubborn and is being a PITA to get off...

Re: The Scary Truck

Welp bad news and good news... Bad news is we came home from vacation for the weekend due to my dog passing away. But in good news this morning I fired the truck up and drove around the yard. I saw a picture on this forum of a manufacturer sticker on the door. I figured I would look at mine, maybe learn a little about its history. Turns out my truck is from/made Canada!

No updates yet. Sports, always consuming my valuable time. I have a little more free time and a paycheck coming up soon so that means a radio
More to come soon. Hopefully

Re: The Scary Truck

Weekend update. Got quite a bit done this weekend for just a few hours of work. Let start with the outside.

Got the ugly running board off. Just an hour of grinding and jumping on it, came right off! Also gave her a little bath.

And on the inside..

This weekend I picked up a radio. Cut the dash and installed it. Looks good. I'll be spending this week running wires to speakers, and an amp/sub.

I installed some red lights underneath the dash. I spliced into the wires running into the heater light bulb. So when the dash lights are on so are the red lights, they also adjust with the brightness.

Re: The Scary Truck

Update! If anyone one still reads my poor neglected thread

Short and sweet. Back bumper off (didn't cut a single bolt). Radio wired up. Truck now has a banging stereo that was 75% free to me. Will get some pics of the inside tomorrow. Hopefully for Christmas I'll get a new sub with a box to go behind a bench seat (or rims haven't decided). Also I have a bench seat headed my way hopefully. Just waiting for my buddy to take it out of his truck.

Re: The Scary Truck

Got a little bit done today. Here are some pics of before I started working. I got the seats out. Sanded a little on the inside and practiced painting. I should be getting my bench seat this week. (fingers crossed). But before It goes in I'm painting the whole inside satin black which will match the outside eventually. Also started to draw up some plans for a custom speaker box behind the seat.

Re: The Scary Truck

So what did you use for a dash install kit for the radio in your truck? I'm assuming the 1982-2005 kit works?

I actually didn't even use a kit, It fits so snug in the dash it doesn't move, I did attached a bar for support in the back.

Re: The Scary Truck

Kind of a lazy weekend, painted my bumper and got it 1/2 way bolted on, thats just about it. Looks good, Took the head rack off tonight though. I didn't like it with the bumper, plus I don't think I'm going to use it lol. Think I made up my mind and next pay check check get some stuff to lower the truck. Also keeping an eye on craigslist for wheels, or just 4 tires for my rallies, It really bothers me that one of the rims is shallower than the others. But the matching rim has a leaking tire.

Re: The Scary Truck

You'll like the drop shackles. I don't remember the process I went through to get them on but I put the truck on jack-stands so I could adjust the axle with the jack. I was looking at some of the pictures of your truck and I knew something looked different I just couldn't tell what. I finally realized this, you've got a 81-87 front bumper.

Also saw your post about doing a 5/5 drop. Not sure you want to do that. The back will be higher than the front. Would need to do a 5/7 for levelness. I think that might be too low for you. If you wanted you could get a lowering hangar for the rear (since you got the shackles) and that'd give you a 4ish drop in the back. Could get 3" front spindles or 2.5" spindles to get the front level. Just a thought. What are your other plans for the truck?

Yeah, really want to replace that bumper, PO did it, not a fan. And I agree with 5" being a little too much, I think for right now I'm going to put the shackles on and leave it there. Future plans are Satin Black Paint, Fix some of the rust, billet grille, fancy new tail lights, toolbox in bed, finish blacking out interior, and anything that comes along the way.
