Re: Rear Axle Ratio Charts For 1967 - 1972 GM Trucks
Well my OCR software is kind of crappy but it wont take to much to clean this up. You guys prefer csv, xls or just a text file. the coloms are never going to line up correctly in the forum so it should be a download of some kind.

Here's another resource for differential (and engine, and VIN) codes.

Re: Rear Axle Ratio Charts For 1967 - 1972 GM Trucks
Thanks guys for showing the axle charts. My Blazer was a RAW, so 3:73 is the axle ratio but what about the numbers stamped to the right of the RAW? Mine is W (then what looks like the upper part of a '3' ) 47
So W 347 ? Thanks.

Here is the stamp on my rear axle. RAY for 3.07 open. I'm going to guess it was built on the 251st day of the year, 1st shift.

Thanks for posting this Leon. I need this info from time to time and always had to look for it. Is there a 1971 page like the 1972 chart in post #2? I just need the 5 lug stuff....

Re: Rear Axle Ratio Charts For 1967 - 1972 GM Trucks
Is there any other places to look for the codes? I have a 69 C10, on the passenger side axle tube: "R V 0630 W2", and under that an "E", I do not see any code like it, does anyone know what ratio it is? Thanks

Great post! lots of good info here. the trouble I'm having is I cannot find my code! it reads as follows and I am not mistaken. TAY W175 2. will post pics if it becomes necessary but theres a good chance I'm missing it somewhere amongst all the darn codes. Any ideas?

Always a chance one was omitted in the charts or a housing got stamped wrong. If you take the cover off please post up the numbers on the ring gear so there is a record of it in the thread. Thanks, LockDoc

Re: Rear Axle Ratio Charts For 1967 - 1972 GM Trucks
I don't know what the C14 is about, but I just looked at my 1967 C10 pickup and there is an HA stamped clear as day on the top side of the passenger tube, pretty close the the pumpkin.
3.73. Super. I was really expecting to see something like a 5.10 or higher based on the fact that I am at 3000 rpms at 65mph. I see a 3.23 rear gear in my future. Anyone know what diameter the ring gear is? I want to say 8.5", but I also know that GM did an 8.625" ring gear as well. Anyone know? |

Re: Rear Axle Ratio Charts For 1967 - 1972 GM Trucks
So is this out of a 70 with posi I was told it was out of a blazer with 3.73 gears. It was in the truck when I got it if I remember right we pulled and checked gears but that was 20 yrs ago . I'm sure they could have been changed at some point
