Re: fill 'er up?

Gas in Canada WILL be between $1.30-$1.50/Liter this year and it will stay there.
All the auto makers are selling a huge amount of economy cars. The japanese and europeans are importing cars that were only in demand in europe and asia up until now. They are selling like hot cakes!!! Whats the world coming to???? Long live the V-8!!!

Yep...saw some crazy little tiny cars in Europe last week. Of course every single car over there is diesel and gets great mpg anyway.

Re: fill 'er up?

There is an email floating around that is recommending boycotting Exxon/Mobil since they made the most money. It doesn't make much of an impact if you just pick a day and not buy gas. But if you pick one brand and just don't ever buy from them, the rest should get the message.

Re: fill 'er up?

I see people pay a dollar for 12 ounces of water. Now that's crazineess. At $2.89 per gallon, Gasoline is still a pretty good deal considering what you get from it.

The problem is not gas prices it's that we drive ineffecient vehicles that are better at producing heat than gettng us around.

Re: fill 'er up?

Piss on it, I get way more enjoyment driving my inefficiant heat maker than those that drive 3-4 cylinders can imagine!! I drive v8's or I walk, and I only drive one Small block, the rest are BBC!! We have been living in denial for years as everything else inflated, gas prices remained, now they are catching up. I paid .85 cents for regular when I was in HS (graduated in 90) and prices slowly went up, well they doubled and everyone freaked, then $3 a gallon last summer and folks almost went bankrupt? Come on, it is not that expensive, if it is ride a bus!! I live in a very desolate place, an Indian Reservation in Northeast AZ where fuel has been $3 a gallon for awhile, oh well!! I drove over to Santa Fe, NM to pick up my new Burb and I was dropping $100 a fillup in my In-laws Powerstroke that I borrowed to get it. It is worth it to me and if you can't afford it, get the finances in order, but do not buy an econo mobile!!

In 2000 (2 years after the gas went up and stayed up) Exxon/mobil's profits was 16 billion.
Now, in 2005, Exxon/mobil's profits were 25.33 billion

That's 2004 data. 2005 net income was right at 34 billion.....

Maybe GM has the right idea "8 cylinders when you need power and 4 when you need fuel efficiency." Best of both worlds? We shall see if this new technology holds up or falls to crap. I for one hope it holds up because I can see the new camaro (if it comes out) as having the DOD technology.... and I REALLY REALLY REALLY want one!

Re: fill 'er up?

Im just curios has the cost of a quart of oil gone up to match the gas prices? Not that I want to give them any Idea's but if its costing so much more to get and make us gas why isnt the rest of it costing more as well i.e. a quart of 10-w30.

Re: fill 'er up?

YES IT IS! I use mobil one for my Z71 and it cost me about $35 (with filter) to change the oil if I do it myself. Good thing its good for 7K. The price of tires has also crept up as well. You don't notice it as much because most people only change their oil a few times a year (some if that often) and you only need new tires every few years (most peeps.) The prices have not gone up anywhere near as much as fuel (proportionatly). Thank goodness they havent, can you image paying $12 for a quart of mobil one and $200 for one passenger car tire?

Re: fill 'er up?

Damn that sucks. What really hurts is I fly over to kuwait all the time and from what I gathered from the locals they dont pay for gas at all or in some cases its just a small fee to help pay for the attendant at the station. Must be nice to have all the oil and control.

So, Estimate the return on XOM and buy enough stock so that your return is equal to or greater than your annual gas expenditures.

Whoa there, isn't Mobile one synthetic, ie no crude oil!? Conventional oil uses a crude base, therefore effected by the crude increase, but synthetic based oils are made in a lab.

Mobile makes mobile one, but they also sell conventional oil... even so, it is all owned by the same company.
kinda like PepsiCo owning KFC, Pizza hut, Frito Lay Gold Rold, and probably any other unhealthy habit you may have.... all owned by PepsiCo

Partially true... Pepsico owns Frito Lay but they spun off KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell in the late 90's to form an independent, publicly traded company called Tricon Global Restaurants that later changed it's name to Yum Brands. Yum Brands also owns Long John Silver's and A&W All American Food.

It's still gone up almost a dollar a quart over last years price

And I honestly don't know the answer....but isnt there some crude oil in all synthetics.... if there isn't any at all, then why can't we create synthetic gasoline??? Or at least partially synthetic.... I know there E85 which is a mix..... maybe the Gov. is holding out on us????

Re: fill 'er up?

Well, I don't want to get all political on you, but who are W's best friends? The Saudi's......where does most of our oil come from....the Saudi's. Would W cut off his own nose to spite the billions of dollars in his pocket? I am not a political anything, but watch Feirenheit 9/11, Michael Moore may be a lot of things, but the movie brings up a lot of things that make you wonder just who pays our president and his daddy?! Pure Synthetics use no crude base, hence the name "pure" Royal Purple, Amsoil, etc etc are all pure synthetics with no crude at all. The synthetics are a lubricant, but do not have the petroleum base to become flamible (gas). Bio Diesel, darn it, that's what I am going to do, switch out my BBC for diesels!!

Re: fill 'er up?

I think the public needs to get behind some variation of alchohol fuels (ethanol, methanol, etc.) I see no drawbacks to this scenario. Burns clean, burns cooler, is adaptable to almost any vehicle that currently runs Gas, is a RENEWABLE resource, puts the farmers back in the driver's seat of the economy, and screws the raghead terrorists.

I fill up my company truck ( an '02 dodge) almost every day, at about 50-60 bucks. Now I don't pay for that fuel, but I DO notice the cost. My profession (A/C Tech.) requires me be mobile and carry alot of stuff. I must use a full size truck. Sucks to be my boss. Or our customers ultimately.

It is obvious that the whole Hybrid thing is a fad, and won't last. Hydrogen is not an across the board solution (not enough HP) and therefore won't last, probably won't even get off the ground after billions are spent trying. You can't run Bio-deisel in cold temps. because it will gel up. This is why Big Oil has allowed them to exist.

I don't let the fuel prices keep me at home, or make me drive a POS. I still go to the lake, to the Deer Lease (235 miles), Camping, or whatever. Like it has been said before we have all spent more than a dollar for a bottle of water, or six dollars for a beer at a race, ballgame, etc.. Life will go on. And I would much rather have G.W. in office than Gore or Kerry!

Just my two cents, and two cents aint worth much these days.

Jay
