If you are not too set on being exactly period correct, I don't know if a newer model AM/FM radio would fit like the stock one I took out of my 78...

Or I have one of those FM Converters laying around as well.

Back in the day fm radio stations were few and far between and also all the pop music stations were on am. There really wasn't much of a market for fm radios at that time. I tried to order a am/fm radio in my new '64..........not available.
