My '72 doesn't. I wish that it did. I need gun racks in mine (If you live in MT they are more important than any other feature) but I can't bring myself to drill the holes.

Re: Interior Cab Help....what goes here?

Even though this is kinda trivial I think its very interesting that of those that responded to this thread more have these on their trucks then don't.
I was 13 in 1970 so I didn't have a gun or a truck but I read in some old threads that guys remember their dads picking up their new trucks from the dealerships with gun racks in them. Dealer installed no doubt.
I got a better look at mine this morning (its in the paint shop) and the holes probably arn't threaded. Also checked my 72 Custom Camper and it does not have these (it has everything else, including a CB and compass).
So........

Re: Interior Cab Help....what goes here?

Could have been dealer installed or simply a popular model of gun rack that a few people installed in the same location (centered) so the holes lined up. Now...if they had been threaded with nutserts inside....I'd have started to wonder if it was a new factory option

Re: Interior Cab Help....what goes here?

The bumped out and threaded part is what got me on the Factory kick. Mine had been bondoed over at some point and later someone put screws back in the holes and took them out again....threaded holes!
Still blows me away so many of these trucks had gun racks.

Now I wan't one...and maybe a Samurai Sword.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but I've never seen one of our trucks with only the top trim piece and not the bottom. Mostly it's the two together or just the bottom one. It looks pretty good though.

Re: Interior Cab Help....what goes here?

I have the slip-under-the-window-seal type, top and bottom. I don't have a real good picture, but one shows the top, without any other mounting holes.

I can't really imagine having a truck without a gun rack in the back window. I mean, where the heck else would you have them?

Re: Interior Cab Help....what goes here?

My 72 Cheyenne cab has the screws and bumps above the window too. When I was painting it I was mad because I wanted to fill them in before I painted it. I'll check my original cab to see if it has them or not.

The cab is a 70 GMC Custom.
Thanks
What is that hole below the dome light? I have never seen a cab with that oval hole before, is that a factory hole?

Re: Interior Cab Help....what goes here?

Interesting thread..... shoot (pun intended), it kinda seems like gun racks should have been standard in these trucks. That's one of the first things I added to mine after I bought it in 1977. They also hold fishing rods and baseball bats.

Re: Interior Cab Help....what goes here?

Mine has the holes and no rack but I remember the gun rack being there when my dad first bought the truck. At some point he removed it. I had totally forgotten about that until this thread popped up. Mine actually has holes under the window as well. They are hidden by the top of the seat back
