Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

I have been doing a little work on the truck , but my maiin goal this week was to finish my disc brake conversion/fornt end rebuild on the Camaro . This had my lawn mower trapped in and i just don't like the car not being moveable as i have very limited space to work in . It came out good , but there are buckets in the subframe that the front springs have to set in . What a pain .

I did get the final coats of paint on the chassis and i am happy with it . I also painted the motor stands and trans crossmember and replaced the shocks . I am currently finishing up the brake lines and Emergency brake cables . I'll post a picture later .

Had a guy come over yesterday to look at the Blue truck . Told him id give him the frame for $450 . He is right down the street from me and is converting a LWB to SWB . He wants to pick it up Mon. or Tues. Im trying to coordinate that with the purchase of my newest donor . Thinking more and more about buying repop short fleet sides and making a short fleet bed .

Yes i talked to the guy that owns it today and i think we got it locked down . It is a 3/4 ton , LWB , CST with Bucket buddies , air , and auto (th400 ) and an Eaton rear axle . I like everything about it except somebody cut the doors for 6 x 9 speakers . I believe it is a 327 . Even has the factory or dealer brush guard so all the front accent peices are mint . Going to get it running before i convert to SWB .

I haven't got with them about that truck yet . If this one works out ill take it due to location and options . Now if it were the Z id be all over it .

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Well the weather and work have not been cooperating , but i finally locked this deal down . I bought a 67' CST that is a hard loaded 3/4 ton . Truck was from west Texas and ended up in beamont , Texas in a garage for around 10 years then where you see it for around 5 . The cab is in really good shape minus the outer rockers . Sorry for the crappy picture , more to come .

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Thanks guys , i still have some work to do on the blue truck to finish parting it out , but im getting close . This truck is complete and almost unmolested . It has the brush gaurd on the front and it is solid , not tubing . Someone welded a peice of plate in the bed over the wood flor that will become a work bench in my garage . The bed should give me everything except the sides to build a short fleet . Best of all Bucket buddies . 327/th400 eaton axle . power assist steering . Got a busy day , ill check back later .

Just making sure you know that speed warning is worth a pretty penny before you go hacking that off... figure you do but didn't want you to miss out...I've had people tell me they threw out the ratty buckets and look on the spid and they were buddy buckets...

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Yea i knew about the buckets . One of the reasons it took a little while was we had to get to the buckets they weren't in the truck . He didn't want them to get weathered . The speed warning dash was a extra bonus i hadn't noticed till today . I don't know how it works , but it's cool . I am glad i ended up with this old truck . I almost hate to move it to the half tomn chassis . Im going to do the CLR trick on the rust and assemble it with what i have . The main goal it to drive it . Paint can come later . I figured someone would catch all that , just not the first post .

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

3892657 327 ci 210 hp 4 barrel wcfb . Tried cranking it today . The carb was bad and the spring was broke on the points . Found a new set of points in the bag on the intake . Threw those in and put the 650 Demon off my Camaro on it with a hot battery and a Holley blue pump and regulator pulling from a 2 gallon gas can . It fired right up and doesn't even smoke to bad for sitting 10 years . Prolly gonna do a carb rebuild and fuel pump replacement before dis assembly .
