Wow, the genius found a way to make watching TV appear to be constructive without intending to. Pure genius!

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
Well some of you may not like my past use for old station wagons.
I had a lot of fun with them over a 10+ year derby career! Almost exclusively used 71-76 GM clam-shell wagons.

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
I had a 64 studebaker sliding roof wagon . Was my everyday driver early 80's. Good car but not very dry when it rained. I even found nos rubber for it still leaked. I ended up sealing it with sealant. Sold it to a guy in Vermont

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
I always thought those were so cool. I also always figured they'd have to be prone to leaks. It would be a great to have one on easy duty in dry storage

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
Timely thread. Lately, I've been all about wanting a Vista Cruiser from either 71 or 72, since my first car was a 71 Cutlass. I'd make a wanna be 442 wagon out of it, as in bucket seats and console, which were never available in the Olds wagon, as well as the W-25 dual scoop hood, and I'd even put the 442 stripes down the side, and of course a built 455 Olds with a 4 (or maybe modern 5) speed behind it.

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
I hate having to sell anything. It's never that I 'want' to. I've bought most vehicles, mine and for the family, with plans in mind for when it's first use is up. My older son's '65 Biscayne Wagon in the mid-90s was one. It was an original owner garage kept low-mile 6cyl/3spd basic car. Big, great gas mileage, big and safe, and he could lay out in it at a party instead of driving home. Turns out chicks dug it, too . My hopes for when he moved on was a 427 COPO Wagon. It was perfect for it, but that's not how it went
When I met my x-wife (sounds funny), who had two kids, I got a '55 210 Wagon. It had a 350/TH350, chrome trim stripped, and painted Root Beer metallic with rallye wheels. It ran along pretty well. Took trips in it, went camping, lots of fun. One thing led to the other and I gave it to my brother. Now way way back, talking way back, I had myself a '66 VW Bus. I made a camper out of it and gave it a "Baja Bus" treatment (in my mind). It actually was great getting places off road. I traveled cross-country, up and down both coasts, with a few trips in between. I had a Corvair engine to swap in but never happened. My old girlfriend ended up with that one

My '66 Country Sedan 390/C6. She has been hands down the easiest driving car I've ever owned.

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
Gorgeous! Yeah, the wagons got a bad rap, like a 4dr sedan. Uncool family vehicle. Now they are gone and, HEY!... talk about the ultimate classic car! What do we do with the old cars nowadays? Sunday drive, car shows, power tour, vacations, day trips to nice places? Wagons are the best for all that! And they can tow!!

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
What's America's most famous wagon? Was it the one from "Vacation"? I remember great draggin' wagons but no name comes to mind. I loved them all! Can you think of others?
Could it be this one?

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons
A '59, cool. When would this have been? My mom have one picture with it in there, but when I was too young to remember my dad drove a '49 Ford wagon (mom never got a license). He decided to get rid of it when he realized my oldest sister was sticking her head out the bottom of the rotted wood door driving down the road. It was one of those things where people are pointy, honking, and freaking out and he was like, "Hmmm... I wonder what's up". But they were pointing so he took a look, and that was that. He picked up a '49 Buick torpedo back. Dad's was darker green
No woodies in here yet. How about a '45 Diamond T woody wagon truck? About as rare and unusual as it gets

I'm thinking around 1965 0r '66. Here's my sis & our Irish setter next to it. She would kill me showing this pic with her wearing my boots! Hope she never sees this thread.
BTW, that Diamond T is awesome! |
