Re: Roof mods, what do you think?

Bring the wind shield completely over the roof line to terminate with the bottom of the rear glass. Now that's 60's styling.

Your rendering of the roof line on the grey truck has similar details of the 64 El Camino.

That's what I'm getting at. By the mid '60s GM was doing away with the late 50's/early 60's styling trends and producing cars with cleaner lines.

I've been tempted to go ahead and start on it! But I'm already in the middle of three projects- Goldilocks, building a 200+hp 2276cc stroker for the VW, and a '55 International pickup at work, so I don't need a fourth. Gotta hurry up and finish one of them so I can start another!!

Re: Roof mods, what do you think?

It looks like a 67 -72 roof. I admit the driprail is a poor design, but i'm with the crowd that doesn't like to stray too far from the stock look. However, when i put my new "eyebrow" on, i made notches where it meets the posts for water to drain off,and eliminated the seam, mostly because of the terrible fit of the aftermarket parts.

Re: Roof mods, what do you think?

Not quite my taste. In my opinion, stock is one of the best looking roof lines on a pickup. It really offsets the body lines along the length of the truck and adds a good balance to the overall design. I personally wouldn't mess with it at all. Probably was a lot of fun to photoshop though. At least it isn't cut up.

Re: Roof mods, what do you think?

I'm with the idea. Here's how I wd do it...
Remove a full roof from a 67-72. Rebuild the front grill area of the truck to square it up more (like in the c60 trucks). Square up the fender openings and make them match in size (shape of 73-87 trucks). Put it on the ground over 20/22 smoothies combo.

I'll also chime in. I'm for the stock roof. One of my favorite features of the trucks.
