Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I too am sad. Was very happy it was going to a member here. It really sucks when your willing to give asking price, and the owner is difficult from the get-go, then sells it to someone else?, NOT A MANS MAN if you ask me!!!. Sounds like the exact fallen deal I had on a 67 GMC K2500 panel truck. Now I'm pissed off again!!! Sorry man.

No mater what his excuse is he clearly indicated I had his "word on it".i could have been there had I know he was a coward. All indications are it was a board member who had failed to communicate or follow thru their first chance, But seen it was possible. With the luck that this man has no morals they were able to undermine my deal. In the end life is good , it was only a truck. I live to hunt another day!!

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I'd call him back and offer an extra $500-$1,000.00 to see if it would get the deal done ,I'd be willing to bet that's what happened to your deal ,You got out bid by someone close waving $100 bills in his face . I would have paid $5,000.00 for it .But I REALLY want one .

Screw him. Don't fall for a crook's game. You don't offer more than asking price and when you strike a verbal deal with an honest person the deal is done. If the guy wanted $5,000 he should have asked $5,000. That saying a man is only as good as his word rings true. Obviously this guy is no good.

I hope that's a joke ? Your kidding right ? Doing anything other than restoring it to original condition would be sacrilege ! a 4x4 longhorn with 516's ? plan on hauling anything faster than 45 mph ?

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I met a guy a couple years ago that had/has a 3/4 ton longhorn. The bed was in great shape but i didn't buy it. I could do a drive by tom and see if it is still in his back yard for ya. he is only about 15 min from me. he has all kinds of truck stuff pretty cool but a little proud of his stuff. if i remember right he wanted 1000.00 bucs witch i thought was a great price for a great bed

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I will take a little drive tom and see if its there. i think it will still have the cool factor no matter what you decide to do, it will always be a napco. Just make sure you hang on to all the original parts incase you change your mind later down the road. i would also take lots of photos before you disassemble anything

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I agree with the possibility of leaving it alone guys just looking at some other options I'm not going to be hauling much with it at all it'll have an easy life. I've attached another picture of my other 67 c30 just about as original as it gets has roughly 71000 on clock if I remember correct never been repainted I just cleaned it up and left it alone and drive it. What do you guys think of it?

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

It's your truck to do what you like. But I agree turning it into a pickup would castrate that truck. There's more to trucks than pickups. All the car converts only like pickups because they need it pretty from bumper to bumper, like a car. It's cool when a truck can do that, but it's also cool for a truck to be all truck and look good doing it, at least to a truck guy it is. It's not like a 4wd Longhorn hasn't been done before either. You could stretch the frame on any 8' K/20 for a much more driveable 4wd pickup

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

The guy I bought the truck from told me when I picked it up that the gentleman from Indiana wanted him to give him his word that it was sold but he wouldn't until he had spoken with me since I contacted him earlier in the week. I've had a few people upset at me for sneaking in and buying it? When I was the one originally interested I'm sorry if some people are upset but the seller was a legitimate guy and was tired of craigslist associated bs. In the end the truck will get restored and another napco will live for the next generation to enjoy. I'll keep everyone up to date on here of progress. Thank you

I'll make this simple... On my word he gave me his "word", that you can take to the bank. Odd that it meant so much to you when it's clear by your first post you were clueless to what you were even looking at. With the trusted help of this board you went from 0 to 100 and jumped back in action to make it happen. Further more he mentioned me as a buyer to you but ,when I asked if he had any one serious he said "no only tire kickers". One more fact, he apologized repeatedly and you answered me In this thread as a third party..... I think both of you knew exactly what went down!!! The least you could do is support the board that helped you by becomeing a member

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

This thread went all over the place. My post# 32 shows that. Until the third page it looked like all were screwed out of it. At first I wasn't sure if someone sniped it as a result of your post here or if that was already in motion before you posted. It sounded like the guy was promising everyone and coming through for none...at least here. After all that I see it suggested that you should have offered more and that really put a burr under my saddle. So, it turns out you made the deal. I guess your question got answered in actions as well as words. This truck in particular was very "desired". Had I known it never sold last year it would have been sitting here since the end of April when I sold my '85 Jimmy.

I had a '71 C/30 SRW NAPCO that got stolen from the place that removed my utility body (sold it) and was looking for a used contractor dump set-up made for SRW. It already had a plow. I was going to retire it to the family farm up in the mountains to work firewood, clear snow out to the road, and general bopping around in the perfect mountain chore boy. I envisioned this as it's replacement. I would restore it, use it with care, and take it to antique truck shows, as well as car/pickup shows. I did that in my '71 wrecker a few times and it was a big hit! That is such a cool truck and very very special. It is an absolute custom truck from 1967. Custom doesn't always mean fancy, especially in the truck world

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

Thank you special k I actually purchased the truck for less than the asking price I don't wish to disclose how much just will say it was south of $2500. I'm sorry if anyone has bad feelings towards me or the truck but un the end it will be a useable truck here at home so anyone wants to see her please contact me. Weather forecast shows high of 2 degrees here today so no pictures but next week if it warms up some I'll get some shots of her thanks.
