Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]
Thanks so much. I grew up in the garage, my dad had a 76 Camaro (12 seconds easily on street tires pump gas 396 BBC) a 51 Chevy (his grandmothers, willl be restored some day) and a 78 El Camino (I came home in it when I was born, custom blue/white two tone, planned 400hp TPI V8 drop, but some a-hole wrecked into it one winter while it was parked, and totaled it )
Im paying for it all myself, pretty much. So, yeh, road before bling. But the most bling it will get is a new set of rims some day, and when we redo the interior after fixing the windshield's touble spots. Ill keep this updated with the engine news. THe storage place my dad has all his old garage stuff (we moved from dallas to houston in 2002) has the engine stand we need. And the keys to it are 'misplaced' at the moment http://www.outbacktruckparts.com/ If you live near spring, texas, you aught to check that site out. Looks like you have a great project to get started on just keep focused and set some goals for the truck and it will get done sooner than you think..

Finally!
Drove out to check out the motor today. Its great Rebuilt a few years ago, and the transmission too. The block is just dirty, but its in great shape. Not leaking oil anywhere, no sludge in the motor, etc. Buying it tomorrow, picking it up next weekend! |

The truck is coming along nicely. I think if you got a chrome bumper and lost the rear window tint, you could clean up the back end tremendously. Do you plan on getting the stock a/c working? I saw in your hood hinge pictures that you have the lines with rags in them.

Im keeping it tinted, houston summers are typically 90-100+ degrees. And I cant afford new bumpers right now, just want it driving.
Yup, gonna try and get it all back in. Making it drivable and safe is 1st priority though. |

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]
and
I am partial to CST's as I have a 70cst...thus my name. Your truck has very good "bones" and many of our trucks have a lot of rust issues. Your bed looks really solid. Big Ants71...thats a nice thing you are doing and I agree it's refeshing to see a young man willing and able to work on his own truck. Me...I am mechanically challenged. Hey texanidiot25...Because you are willing to work on your truck and it's a CST if you get a hold of Josh...I will pay for your 1st year membership to this board. No strings attached!! . You will find the guys/gals very helpful and we see each other as equals no matter what type of truck we own. Plain Jain to rodsteration...you cant go wrong with these trucks. I just did a bump for you...look for the "Icon" thread. You will see these are classic trucks indeeed. Good Luck

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]
Hey texanidiot25...
Do you have pay pal? I could send you the $25 that way and then you could pay for the one year membership. I am going to get you that free membership if I have to buy out this board. Just kidding about buying the board out. With the number of members on this site I realize that they probably get a 1000 emails a day. They need to make paying in a situation like this a little easier. I paid for my son's membership about a month ago and it was a challenge back then. Keep the faith because being a site member will be worth the wait.
