Re: Best of show, first time out.
Thanks, taking this weekend off. Next show will probably be the big one at 'The Villages'. Lots of units (again, mostly cars) in the 100K range. Lets see how Rose stacks up against the heavy hitters.
I'm thinking about making a story board so I don't have to repeat the same thing over and over again. I'm new to showing my truck (or anything else for that matter) so any advice you guys could give me would be a big help.

When is The Villages one? We love it up there and might be a nice weekend to get away, plus I would love to see Rose in person...

Re: Best of show, first time out.
Here is a link to a youtube video of the Villages show from 2010, this will give you an idea of the level of quality of the stuff they have.....
Not alot of trucks so Rose should get some attention.

I don't agree with the burnout part anymore because most shows are in crowded and cluttered areas which makes it dangerous, and people complain which gets events closed. Anyway, I do like to show up "fashionably late" and leave out just a little before everyone else leaves, but that's me. The main thing is to keep a good attitude, try not to sound arrogant or boastful when getting compliments, and you don't have to wipe on it all day. Don't get hung up on going for trophies/awards or you will start getting upset. Just go to have fun and if you get an award, just look at it as icing on the cake. Take any criticism with a grain of salt, because it's usually just someone's opinion anyway. Something else I like to do is stand/sit away from my truck where I can still see people around it. I like to watch their reactions and try to hear what they have to say without them knowing it's my truck.

Re: Best of show, first time out.
Thanks Matt and Mike^
"They will still ask questions while tripping over the display" Thats funny and I'm sure its true That's all great advice. I probably will roll in a little late as Rose has a dangerous sounding purr at idle, not overly loud but she does turn heads. As far as awards go I really don't care, it is nice to get recognition for all the hard work though and my Dad actually gave me a hug when we won at Wendy's which put a bit of a lump in my throat. I am a little concerned about people putting their hands on her and I already had to ask a guy not to lean on my truck but I guess all that comes with the territory. Do you guys know where I can get one of those "Look but please don't touch" decals?

keep in mind that at a lot of these shows it's people's choice, meaning the people who are showing their cars (and their friends). Around here, there's a group of the same guys that go to all the shows. I seen (and heard) them get together and decide who's going to win, they just rotate it around their group. Their group or club, is always big enough to make it happen. Doesn't really bother me, if i went for the trophies i'd never show it. Biggest thing to learn is to not be upset when a piece of #$%& wins, it wins because these things are very political. Unless the show is "judged" by real certified car judges, then just assume the buddy system is in charge...

Summit Racing used to send stickers with each order that had a "Look but don't touch" sticker. Most people have a local vinyl shop make custom vinyl lettering. You can get letters that match the paint pretty close.
